Earlier this year we told you about the new version of The Phantom that Syfy (back then it was still called Sci-Fi - remember that?) was making, and now we have our first sneak peek of the miniseries, with Ryan Carnes as the title hero.
I interviewed Bruce Campbell several years ago, and he told me that he auditioned for the role that eventually went to Billy Zane in the 90s version. What a different movie that would have been.

I loved reading the Phantom comic books, growing up in Germany, so I look forward to any adaptation. I just hope they respect the source material.

Oh yeah, I'll be watching this...
I actually liked the Billy Zane version of The Phantom and thought he did a great job of capturing the essence of the comic. One has to remember just how long ago that film was made and judge it along side of the other comic book adaptations that are its contemporary - not so bad compared to most of them. I'm reserving judgment on the new suit though... from what I could see, I wasn't impressed.
On a different note... how freaking AWESOME would it have been to have Bruce Campbell star in the old version??? Holy crap on a cracker!!!
