A few months ago, I ever-so-giddily wrote about the entire first season of the British comedy Green Wing being available on Hulu to American viewers. It only seemed right to spread the good word, as it happens to be one of my favorite shows (it's like Scrubs if it were a little less annoying and more demented). Well, shame on me for being late with more news, because it wasn't until reader Erik pointed it out that I saw that the entire series of Green Wing is now on Hulu. Having both seasons and the finale special means that you get the laughs and closure. Isn't that nice?
Though the episodes are significantly longer than the mainstream comedies that American audiences are used to, the series is pretty easy to get through. I'm the type of sad little person that likes forcing others to watch things that I like, because it's one of the few ways I get validation in my life. One of my great shining moments was an evening during my Freshman year when I made my new roommate watch Green Wing with me. After two or three episodes, she wouldn't let me turn it off, and, next thing we knew, it was 7:00 in the morning and we had finished the entire series.
In other words, Green Wing may trigger a television version of highway hypnosis.
Having all the episodes available also makes a difference, as a great deal of change occurs between the end of season one and the special. You will fall in love with characters you never knew could be tolerated, and parallels will be drawn that make the show even more insane than its craziest moments in the first season. That said, the finale's pretty crappy. There, I've admitted it. Still worth watching for the sake of being a completionist and having some sense of closure, though.
If you missed your chance when it was on BBC America, give it a go on Hulu, especially if you appreciate surreal comedy and big ensemble casts. Here's one of my favorite moments from the show to get you started:

The first series of Green Wing is brilliant. The second one... isn't. It's still better than a lot of what's on TV, but grows steadily less coherent as the episodes grind ever onwards.
On the bright side, generally speaking, when a UK show loses its spark, the producers wrap it up. When a US show fades, it's renewed for three more seasons.
