Grey's Anatomy: I Always Feel Like Somebody's Watchin' Me

A lighthearted moment at Grey's Anatomy.
(S06E03) The paranoia kicked in on Grey's Anatomy with the fears of merging with Mercy West. Everyone was on pins and needles wondering whether or not they would get cut. Tonight's episode focused mostly on Lexie and Christina's reactions on how to guarantee themselves positions in Seattle Grace. I still don't see why they were worried because they are good at what they do and even if they got cut, they could easily find jobs.

We also see how much of a loving husband Alex is, being concerned for his wife's health and making sure that she takes her medications.

Let's start with the elephant in the room: Izzie's wig looked horrible. She looked exactly like her mother Robbie and that's not a compliment. I loved Christina's Stepford wife joke and how everyone, including Derek, couldn't help but stare at her hair. Yet, no one had the balls to tell her it was bad. Wouldn't Alex adjusting her wig be the biggest point against it? The peach fuzz/short hair look was oddly sexy on Izzie. Here's hoping that she keeps it. Conversely, what was up with Meredith's hair? Having only one side pinned back was odd.

I've been worried how Lexie was evolving as a character. I'm happy to see the direction that she's going in. This was one episode I felt that Lexie was a genuine character. She still maintained that book-smart ability to repeat facts (like the merger cases) and shows a command of medical situations.

Watching her get attacked by the schizophrenic patient, going crazy around the hospital, and dealing with the repercussions were humorous and emotionally connective. She knew exactly how to deal with the patients' Alien-thoughts with the scans and solved the mother's hesitation, as well. She shouldn't be worried about the merger because she's a good doctor. Her excitement at the end of the show was great, and it quickly turned to sympathy for her friends.

The Christina/Arizona storyline was interesting because I didn't think that Arizona was that gullible to think that Christina of all people wanted to do pediatrics, but seeing her scorn after finding out was nice. I laughed when Christina attempted to do her voice for Mr. Bear because you knew that she didn't know what she was doing.

The thing about Christina was that she still showed a passion for surgery when they were working on the baby's arm and is only paranoid because she doesn't have an attending to protect her. Wouldn't her ability to work on all of Burke's surgeries during his hand tremors be an asset to her even though it was illegal?

The big ending came from round one of the HR E-mails from the chief. I can't believe that they cut Nurse Olivia. I understand that she wasn't really around, but having her as a tertiary character was nice. It was kind of ass-y of the chief not to personally tell these people that they were being cut, but it made Derek look really chivalrous.

Are you going to miss Nurse Olivia? Did anyone else feel blase about the Arizona/Callie dating announcement? Did it feel like the music was weak tonight? Leave comments below.
