I can admit that I'm no longer the hip young kid that I quite honestly never was. So it didn't surprise me that MTV was able to launch a new show and I was completely unaware of it. But, I've talked to younger friends who do watch MTV, and they don't remember any promotion for Popzilla either.I found it purely by accident, and when it popped onto my screen, I was looking at something that looked like a mix of old Walt Disney animation and something the folks at Jib-Jab would have come up with. Utilizing photographs for the heads of celebrities, exaggerated slightly for comic effect, and little white Disney gloves, the show skewers celebrities and pop culture in short skits like Robot Chicken, and it's far funnier than it has any right to be.
I'm not as sure about the air schedule, though. At a half-hour apiece, I am fully satisfied with the show one night a week. It's almost too much that MTV is airing it Mondays through Thursdays at 6:30 PM ET. They've only committed to twelve episodes, so at this rate they'll be done in a month.
We've had two episodes already, one that spotlighted the Jonas Brothers, and the other that lampooned the lack-of-success of many of the American Idol alums. They have a longer segment that we see in bursts throughout, surrounded by 20 or more very short vignettes. In both cases, most of the shorties are funny and the long-form stories have been great, too.
It's a surprisingly solid show that deserves more attention from MTV, and I'd argue even a better timeslot. Check it out for yourself.
Here are some clips to give you an idea what it's all about.

I stumbled across this too and I thought I was watching Terrance and Philip. It's got its fair share of dick/fart jokes, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Kudos to MTV for putting out a watchable program.

Maybe they've recently hired someone with a clue. The US version of Silent Library was a lot better than I expected it to be. I was pleasantly surprised by DJ and the Fro as well, although more for the wraparound animation than the "viral video" picks.
