Has the loss of Pushing Daisies left a big gaping hole in your heart? Are you wishing you could get ABC for pushing such quality programming off the air? Do you have some kind of blueprint involved in said wish with images clearly marked "rented van," "unlocked security door" and "army of heavily armed Mexican banditos"? Well, call off your henchmen because one of the show's chief creators has something new and improved on his hands that you might like.
Barry Sonnenfeld, the executive producer of Pushing Daises, is shopping around a new supernatural show that doesn't sound as deep or detailed as Daises, but could be just as fun.
This time, the script centers around a "harried" mother who finds a unique suit that gives her "super powers." Think of her as Supernanny, only actually "super." I'm referring, of course, to both the character AND the show.
The project he and fellow producer Stu Bloomberg are shopping to ABC only has a script development deal and not a pilot. So far it's only described by its plot, which sounds like a Greatest American Hero remake with the Malcolm in the Middle mom as the title character (wouldn't her magnified mega-bitch powers technically make her a villain?) and as a multicamera show.
Given the extreme amount of cult buzz Daisies generated (a show I haven't watched yet because I like keeping my lights on and the water running), this has the potential to at least be so-so good. It also sounds like a show built for the mommy audience that ABC has slowly been building with their dramas and sitcoms. Grey's Anatomy can probably fit in either category at this stage.

I just finished Pushing Daises, I stopped watching as soon as I heard it was canceled. I was reminded of how absolutely fabulous the writing on that show was.
If you haven't watched it, it will just upset you to realize how badly tv needed a show like this.

The genius behind "Pushing Daisies" is/was Bryan Fuller. The fact that he makes amazing cult shows like "Pushing Daisies" and "Wonderfalls" means that he is unlikely to keep making much more shows that me and a handful of others fall in love with for it only to be killed by trigger-happy networks. Sonnenfield is pretty cool too though, he was a great director for PD, and love his "Addams Family" movies.

One of the most acclaimed shows out there recently...
one that won Emmys despite being off the air...
you're writing about it's producer and his future projects in a similar genre...
and you've never watched it 'cos you can't spare the time?
Ever think that perhaps writing for a television blog is not really what you're completely qualified for?
