Happy Valentine's Day, ESPN! Did you hear the news about one of the smartest guys in Major League Baseball ever? Bobby Valentine is joining ESPN's Baseball Tonight as an analyst. How do I know that Bobby's so smart? He told me so. Me and every other sports fan in the New York metropolitan area when he was there as the New York Mets manager.Seriously, though, Bobby V. is a very, very savvy baseball man. He was a player, a coach and a manager. He was the Mets manager during their last foray into the World Series. Remember the Subway Series, Yankees vs. Mets?
Even though I'm a die-hard Yankee fan, I always admired Bobby's style and gamesmanship. He's going to bring a lot to Baseball Tonight, especially because he doesn't mince words and loves to hear himself speak.
And he is smart about the game. They even made a documentary about Bobby's adventures in Japanese baseball, where he has recently been managing, so he hasn't been completely out of the action. He'll begin appearing on Baseball Tonight during the post-season championship series which kick off in about a week.

You either love Bobby V., or love to hate him. But he's almost always interesting.
If they invent an ESPN3 and start resorting to crappy reality shows, Life with Bobby V. should be the first one they produce.

I'm a win or loose BRAVES fan but I liked Bobby as a manager for the Mets, I think the Braves should consider him to replace our Bobby after he retires.

I grew up a few years behind Bobby in the Stamford, CT area. He was the best ball player to ever come out of Rippawam High School there. If it weren't for some injuries early in his career, he probably would have had a great playing career. In addition to his great athletic ability, he always had a keen sense of game stratagies. Would love to see him back with the Mets again. Though Jerry Manual seems like a good guy, and had a lot of injury-related problems with the team this year, he doesn't strike me as the sharpest tool in the shed. And, though Jerry's also good with the media, Bobby loves to be in front of the cameras, so from that perspective, the media should start pushing the idea too. Bobby V is a good manager. The Mets need a good manager. Let's go Bobby!
