First Three Rivers got rid of Julia Ormand, then the pilot wasn't good enough so CBS decided to film a new version, and now that version doesn't seem to be good enough, so when the show debuts on October 4 we're going to see a later episode as the first episode. The pilot will now air as the second episode. The pilot was also supposed to air at the Paleyfest a few weeks ago but CBS instead gave them an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles.
Many shows have aired episodes out of order before, but it's not always a good sign. Then again, networks need a hit quickly these days. Maybe they should make Alex O'Loughlin's character a vampire?

I think you meant: Many shows have aired episodes out of order before, AND it's always a BAD sign.
Name one show that has recovered from airing its pilot at a later date.

Heh you beat me to it. I was gonna say they should keep Alex O'Loughlin, hire Sophia Myles, and make 3 Rivers a show about a vampire private eye. No reason it can't be set in Pittsburgh.
Seriously, anyone who doesn't realize 3 Rivers will not make it to Season 2 is delusional. They'd get better ratings showing Moonlight reruns.
There are enough medical/hospital/doctor shows on TV already. To say this show is different because it focuses on organ transplants is like saying "CSI: Date Rape Los Angeles - Very Pretty Victims Department" is different because the cases focus on date rape of really hot women.
Lame lame lame. I'm still annoyed that they cancelled Mooonlight, which was a really good, well-made show. But to see the actors wasting their time on blatantly crappy shows that are guaranteed to fail simply infuriates me.
3 Rivers won't make it past 14 episodes. The Over/Under is 11.5 episodes if anyone wants to bet. I think it will beat that, but just narrowly.

bruce - I love you. CBS totally screwed the pooch on the vampire craze. Moonlight wasn't perfect, but it was definitely worth a second season. As much as I'd like Alex to succeed, screwing with the line up and the recasting are never good signs. In the past, it has indicated serious creative troubles and harbingers of bad things to come - Firefly, Dollhouse (see the second season premiere ratings), Moonlight, to name just a few. The small saving grace is that this is a procedural that's not particularly reliant on continuous plot lines and is relatively self-contained.
However, I did background work on the pilot and have read the sides and some of the scripts. The writing isn't good. O'Loughlin and Alfre Woodard are strong actors, but I don't know that the cast can overcome such limp writing. This news makes nothing better :\

This show has been in trouble since the start . The premise is terrible and depressing . And with all the changes it looks like CBS doesn't know what to do with this show anymore,
Yes , CBS should had promoted Moonlight and the show would had improved their ratings this year with all the Vamp stuff going around. Same as True Blood.
Instead , they killed the sexiest Vamp in TV, mistreated the fans and turned the sexy vamp into a Transplant doctor...Great idea!
And thinking that Moonlight fans are going to help Three Rivers ratings is a big big mistake.
Alex is a great actor , but he needs a good show , not a crappy one.

Thank You to both Faith & Bruce I couldn't have said it any better. I admit that I am die-hard Moonlight Fan. You both are right CBS should have kept Moonlight. I could care less about medical dramas they just don't interest me. The only reason I'm even going to take a look at Three Rivers is because Alex asked us to give it a chance. CBS seems to think that all the Moonlight fans are going to watch Three Rivers because Alex is in this show that isn't the case and to be honest CBS' Les Moonves & Nina Tassler are deluding themselves if they think by putting Alex in a new show and back on TV is going to smooth everything over with the majority of the Moonlight fans because it won't. I know there is still alot of fans that are still angry with CBS over the way Moonlight and it's fans were treated by the network. CBS needs to admit they made a mistake by cancelling Moonlight and apologize to the fans. Three Rivers is certainly not going to make every Moonlight fan forgive and forget what happened. I know that Three Rivers is going to make the the "actor-centric" fans happy and more willing to forgive CBS then the Moonlight fans and that is sad. I have the feeling if Three Rivers tanks though the "actor-centric" fans are going to put the blame on the Moonlight fans. Which is sad because at one time we were all friends.

I am backing Three Rivers as well as Alex O (and the rest of the cast). Hindsight is 20-20, so let's see what happens on Sunday, October 4.
Do I wish (with all of my heart) that Moonlight was not dumped by CBS? You bet! That being said, since we are not (backwards) time travelers, it's over and done with.
The story of Three Rivers has tremendous potential, and, with any luck, will shine a bright light on Alex, the rest of the esteemed cast, and persons and patients involved with organ donation.
Smart entertainment, and more than bit of social consciousness, wrapped up with an engaging bow = a successful Three Rivers run.

Mariah: I liked Moonlight a lot and I'm not even a fan of "vampire genre" at all. I think Moonlight was a much better, more interesting show than Tru Blood is.
3 Rivers wouldn't even be past the pilot stage if it were not for Alex O'Loughlin and all the girls who are still hot for him post-Moonlight. It's worth noting that "[Actor] was really well-liked in his/her role on [cancelled show], so the new show starring [Actor] will surely do well" is horrendously poor logic, and has been proven wrong so many times that it still amazes me how anyone can still make such an assertion - particularly network execs.
On an unrelated note, will "Three Rivers" - a show about organ transplants - have the balls to discuss cases where dying patients need organ transplants, but since there are a limited supply of viable organs and long lists of people in need of them, the hospital "death panel" (to borrow a phrase from people in need of brain transplants) has to decide who gets organs and who doesn't get organs (and thus dies)... and what factors they use in making such decisions.
Or will Three Rivers have an unlimited supply of viable organs such that each week every patient who needs an organ will get one, even the 98 year-old great grandmother. Everyone knows Americans are too immature to have this discussion in a rational, civil manner.

You guys are missing a point. Moonlight was JUST as troubled a show as Three Rivers and also had weak writing. It's just that on Moonlight (1) the cast and the crew managed to overcome a lot of those handicaps and (2) Moonlight is a genre show so lends itself to acquiring a fanatical following, i.e. bad scifi/fantasy shows will still get some kind of dedicated following (however small) whereas bad mainstream shows just get forgotten fast.

To Bruce: I believe you are so right. I have even gone as far as to tell CBS the TR would be a great place for Mick to be hidding out as Dr. Andy. They could keep some of the cast and have a cross over show to Moonlight. Josef's love could wake from the coma and end up at TR, Beth could be searching for Mick, there are so many possibilities with this. Alfie could be kept as Talbot's assistant. Mick is helping people and all the while taking blood from the blood bank. As Dr. Andy he is a private person so it is possible he could be leading another life. I will never believe Moonlight is gone forever. I am positive in my thinking and always have felt that if we the fans refuse to let it go then it will never be gone. Here we are almost 2 years later still talking about it and it is obvious we the die hard Moonlighters still want to see more of it. Vampires are so in right now and CBS had the beginning of the craze with 7 million viewers and Moonlight was #1 in its time slot on friday night before they shut it down. I send a note to cbsfeedbackforum.com EVERY day concerning Moonlight. I refuse to let them forget. I also know that Moonlight was suffering some behind the scenes trouble but they (the cast and writers) managed to pull off a GREAT show still. It won the Saturn Award this last June. Yep TR is a great place to begin season 2 of Moonlight. I will continue to watch TR for the obvious (ALEX!) but I will forever want more MOONLIGHT!!!!!!
