American Dad: In Country ... Club (season premiere) - open thread

I figured I'd post this open thread for the season premiere of
American Dad not just because I want fans to have a place to talk about the show but I'm wondering, well, if anyone even cares about it anymore.
I tried to get into the show but, beyond some funny lines here and there, I just don't find it that amusing. It seems rather forced and off-balance to me. Are you still watching it? It seems to be the FOX animated show that not many people talk about.

I'm still watching!
I love American Dad. It started out rough, but really found a groove in the second season. Nowadays, there are many weeks where I laugh more at it than I do Family Guy.

I agree with Teebore - I typically find this show way funnier than I find Family Guy. I think living in DC and generally being a politically-minded person helps a bit, though.

The only saving grace of Sunday on Fox now, in my opinion. The show is SO underrated.

I still watch it and look forward to their new episodes than the new episodes of Family Guy.
I find that I care more about the characters on AD than the other animated shows, especially Roger. Last night's episode was pretty good on American Dad scale; a solid 8 out of 10.
Yes, most people aren't talking about it...but then again, most people weren't talking about King of the Hill either for most of its run...and it lasted a nice, solid long time in the TV universe.

Yeah, I'm going to agree with everyone else here. I suspect that Sassone only watched a few episodes from the first season -- the show really took a while to hit its stride (probably not until sometime in season 2), but since then it's been pretty much uniformly great.

Pretty much agreed with everyone above - the show took a while to find its stride but it eventually did and generally is as funny or moreso than Family Guy.

IMO it's right up there with South Park for me and that's a good thing..

I agree with the rest of ya. AD is an underrated, solid, hilarious show. Not to quote from South Park, but at least AD's comedy "derives its humor from a plot" as opposed to Family Guy, which mostly gets its laughs from those flashbacks. I don't find the flashbacks very funny anyway.
Though I did find the Disney spoof in the latest episode pretty comical.

I love the Steve-centered episodes... the paradox of his immaturity and "wousiness" with how seriously he sometimes takes things is SO hilarious!
the pay per view code was 49-12, Roger's pants size! ha ha ha ha ha

So it looks like Sassone is "wrong." I'll add my voice to the as-yet unanimous sentiment that AD is definitely a good show.

Absolutely an amazing episode. The different visual styles, the music, the total spoof of the vietnam war movie genre. Both the Steve and the Roger plots worked great. Still one of the best shows on tv and it just keeps getting better!

I love this show, by far the best written comedy show in MacFarlane's repertoire.
I can't wait to see what happens now that Obama is president for the Smith's family.

Fantastic show! Probably a close second to South Park for the past few years. I don't even hardly laugh at Family Guy anymore.
Mind Quad!
