Now it seems NOBODY cares about Heroes

The
ratings for the first Monday of the fall TV season are in, and it's not looking good at all for
Heroes.
The NBC show dropped 46% from last season's one hour season opener. Which reminds me,
Heroes should never be two hours long. Last night's first hour was boring as hell, and then the second hour was more interesting but still muddy, frustrating, and all over the place.
In other ratings news,
House did really well, CBS came in second, and
Dancing with the Stars didn't do as well as people thought it would (or it usually does).

It's just never going to be what it used to be ever again. The second season and the writers strike just killed it, plain and simple.

Silver lining: The two-hour deadbeat lead-ins must be killing Leno!

kill off half the characters, quit the stupid time-traveling, have an epic villain, and then (maybe) the show will be worth watching. oh wait! people have been saying that since season 1 and no one's ever listened.
meh, after NBC killed off journeyman, there's very little reason to watch that network.

Perhaps there really was only one good season to be had, for an idea like Heroes.

I spent all of last season defending this show, and I will do it again this year. For me, this is the 3rd best show on network TV right now behind Lost and Dollhouse. Unfortunately I thought NBC did a down right awful job promoting the season premiere. I am one of the biggest Heroes' fans out there and I didn't know until 4 days ago that it was on last night.
I agree it's not what it was in the first season, but I love the direction they are going this season. If this is the end of Heroes I just pray NBC hangs on long enough for them to finish the current chapter and bring a bunch of the storylines to a close.

I much preferred this years promotion to last (i.e., vastly less), because they acted ridiculous over the premiere last year. I like low-key better.

I'm giving this season to episode 6 to pull me back in. If not then it's off my Tivo.

I recorded it last night. I found myself ffwd through a lot of Hiro/Claire stuff.
It made the two hours seemed quicker that way. ;-)

I only get excited for the Claire and Hiro scenes... They are why I still tune in.

Last season had a two-hour premiere as well, but that's a minor point.
Last night's episodes had some boring parts, but I liked them overall. I'm not worried about the ratings yet. Heroes gets a good bump from DVR viewings and lots of people watch online.

The only way to save this show is to do a spin-off of one character and get rid of all the others.

You want my opinion. Have a Sylar centered show forget the rest. Have Nathan and Hiro as the secondary characters.
That will pull it out of the gutter... It's what made the 1st season so great.

I didn't even know that Heroes premiered last night, which might be part of the problem. For the past three years, NBC hyped each of Heroes' returns from summer/winter hiatus, but this year, not so much. I knew about Jay's new show and 'Mercy,' due to promos on other networks, on-line, but Heroes, not so much. It's possible NBC wants to avoid overspending on the promos in case this is the final year.

I'm glad someone else noticed the lack of advertisment by NBC. I believe it was the beginning of the 2nd season when they gave Heroes the red carpet treatment with a 'countdown to heroes' pre show. Now this season barely a mention that it was coming back.

I've officially stopped watching Heroes. Unfortunately that means almost every show I now watch is on Thursdays.

I think "they", whoever keeps greenlighting the next season, and the writers themselves, should find a way to end this season with the series finale. If that means extending our current season 6 episodes longer, that's great.
They just cannot keep dragging it out... Lost's creators were smart enough to mark the end of their series when they didn't have to, so Heroes should be smart enough to end on their own terms, and not start right back over with Sylar again, like they're already attempting to do.
Spin-offs with one or more characters would be fine, but people aren't going to keep returning to the same cast & plot season after season, without major developments.

Season 1 was pretty good, Season two sucked and watching it reminded me of what homework was like back in high school. My tivo was set to record it automatically last night, but I cancelled the season pass - I just can't bear to watch any more heroes. Plus I missed the last 5-6 episodes of last season (I gave up around episode 17 or so), so I'd be lost anyway. Just end the show, I'm sure Jay Leno can do an extra hour that night. Not that I'd watch that either.

I gave up after the first 2 episodes last season. Before that, I begrudgingly sat through the second season, hoping for the magic that was there in the first, but it never returned. Now Heroes is just a show I used to watch. On a happy note, House was awesome last night.
