Jay Leno's set reminds me of ...

Watching
The Jay Leno Show the other night, I was trying to figure out what his set reminded me of. Not the main stage where he does his monologue or the area where the band plays (which is so far away it seems like another zip code), I'm talking about the chairs where he interviews his guest. Leno made a big deal about how he wouldn't have a desk, as if that's innovative (and it's not true either - he uses a desk for "Headlines"), and the chairs and end tables he's using remind me of something.
Movieline.com has it all figured out: it's an airport!

It's sad that in this day and age, the only way our president can get time in front of people is on a night-time talk show.
Oh wait.

Implying that Leno is lying is a bit disingenuous, when he said in interviews leading up to the premiere that a desk would probably have to be used for bits like 'Headlines'.
As for the airport lounge set, though...yeah, not a fan.

Looks like the set to one of those old Ed McMahon/Dick Clark Blooper shows. Not what I really expected ... I don't like it either.

I DONT LIKE HIS NEW SET AT ALL. IT IS SHALLOW(NO
DEPTH) LACKS ANY CHARACTER SIGNIFICANCE AND I AGREE THE BAND IS TOO FAR AWAY. THERE IS NO WARMTH OR EVEN A FAKE VIEW. HE IS SUCH A CAR AFFICIANADO IT WOULD BE COOL TO INCORPORATE SOME PICS OR THE REAL THINGS!

The only thing worse than the set was the show the first night. Not ONE funny moment. It was PAINFUL to sit through. Seinfeld wasn't funny. The carwash skit was terrible. The skit with the Leno look-alike and the guitarist (whose name escapes me) was embarrassing. If "Jaywalking" wasn't so sad (exposing the mind-numbing stupidity of the average American) it might be only the funny thing--if he uses it. I couldn't bring myself to watch it last night.

Jay, if you're listening, your set is too dark and 1950's. The Band needs more light and be closer to you. the backdrop of your chairs and desk are like a old house where the 90 year old woman died and her bed and dressor is flat, dark brown, each drawer has a difference color or design. I played in a band for 30 years, and the sound of your voice is not as clear or live as your last set. It doesn't sound right. The set is too big. No back light. You need a scene behind you, not wood. Get rid of the chairs. You need a desk again. Your show is not the view. Everything is too unfamilar. Jokes are still great, you're still great.

The Jay Leno show was a total devastating dud! Nothing really connected, his monologue was sophomoric and tasteless, Seinfeld was pathetic, the carwash was entertaining for all of 90 seconds until it became boring. Then he brings on the biggies, the heavyweights; Kanyye, no words have been created to explain how egregious he and his rap-crap music has become. His stupidity and lack of social skills is his attributes. Leno's inane little discourse with El Primero was equally insipid. In all, NBC gets to keep it also ran status and I, for one, will not be in attendance in his next blockbuster.

It's arranged just like the old Arsenio Hall Show in the late 80's, early 90's. The seats and where the band is located. The set reminds me of that show so much.

I agree!! My first thought was that something about the set reminded me of the Arsenio Hall Show! I think it's the dark colors in the background.

Glad someone else noticed it...the hair..what is with the hair? Does not bother me if someone has short hair, long hair, whatever but for cryin out loud let it be neat looking...his hair looks too thick and too long for him...and as for the "new" show..Don't like it. First at 10 I am not ready to sit down and watch that type of show...secondly, nothing is really funny so far. the 10 @ 10...beyond lame. The car wash skit the other night...pathetic and way way too long. Put us out of our misery quicker Jay. Normally or lets say in the past I enjoyed the tonight show..but so far this week, a big fat dud...oh...and Kevin and the band are too far away...there is no warmth at all to the set..and please bag the chairs and get a desk...we are not in your living room chatting Jay, and don't want to be. The purpose of the show is to entertain....even with heavy hitter guests this week...it has been a fizzle rather than a bang.

Jay, I love the concept of informal 'conversational' chairs. I would suggest that you tone down the formality of dress, and perhaps just a shirt sans tie, probably lose the jacket also. I love the semicircle desk for headlines, also. Good luck to you, cuz you're a helluva nice guy. BTW, I would have said the same thing to Kayne regarding his mom. Actually, I was thinking the exact thing, because I know how much he adored her. Oh, I also like the set. BooHoo to those that don't!

I love Jay--he can sit on the floor and I'll watch. At least he's not towering over guests in those high chairs of other talk show folks!
