(S03E01) "Welcome back, Upper Eastsiders." - Gossip Girl
Our favorite backstabbing, lying, messed-up and cheating characters are back for a third season of more drama, mysteries, backstabbing, lying and cheating!
A few weeks have passed since the season's finale events, and the season premiere gives us a rundown on where each character stands while introducing new character Bree, played by Privileged's JoAnna Garcia, and featuring returns from Scott and Carter, both recurring throughout the first half of the season and maybe more.
Did the Gossip Girl premiere deliver the goods? My take on it coming up!
Let's admit it, GG returned with a bang. It may not have been the best episode of the series but it was filled with all the right ingredients to keep us glued to our TV, even for those of us who would love to see less of Serena!
As hinted in the season finale, Serena spent her summer trying to find her father. At the beginning of the episode, I wondered why she was so hungry for media attention. Serena always liked to see her name in print but this time, something was off, as she wanted to be all over the place. It never dawned on me that she may be doing it to reach out to her father. I wonder why her father didn't want to meet her. Is he in a bad situation and didn't want Serena to see him until he gets back on his feet? Was he afraid of the meeting and what could come after -- Serena wanting regular visits, maybe seeing Lily again, etc.? What do you think? On a side note, I may become a Serena and Carter shipper. They looked really fine together when they kissed and it looks like he cares for her. If this match-up means no more Serena/Dan, I'm all for it.
I'm ecstatic that Chuck and Blair are still together and going strong. However, I don't like the little games they played to keep things fresh. It's cruel to seduce a woman only to get a high and make things exciting. I hope that they stay true to their "no more games" pact and find a way to keep things fresh without using other people.
The Nate and Bree storyline will be very interesting, even if predictable. Romeo and Juliet-type of stories are always entertaining. Having Chace Crawford and the lovely JoAnna Garcia matched up is a delight. However, the better part of that storyline will surely come from Nate's grandfather. As soon as I heard him say that he wanted Nate to be happy, I knew he was up to no good. Bad grandfather, bad! Sadly, I think Nate won't understand why his grandfather is so supportive until it's too late. But with Chuck by his side, it wouldn't be surprising if Nate found a way to get back at his grandfather. We will have to wait and see.
Scott looked and acted creepy, eh? What is he really up to? Does he just want to reconnect with his biological parents or does he have a more sinister plan? One thing is certain, he is good at lying and using people. Poor Vanessa. She finally catches a break only to have someone use her. I wonder if Scott developed some real feelings for her or if everything is fake. It'll be interesting when Dan discovers that his half-brother is going out with his ex!
On a side note, Lily will be MIA for a few episodes due to Kelly Rutherford's maternity leave. That's why they sent her to take care of CeCe.

How are they handling the Georgina storyline? Isn't Michelle Trachtenberg one one of the new NBC shows this fall?

were we watching the same show, cause i just did not like last night's premiere. i hate to be "that commentor" and maybe i am biased against premiere episodes, but i hate how they had to explain out every little detail ("Remember Serena is in Europe?", "What did you do this summer?") like their family and friends would generally have no clue what they were up to. it seems so forced and it screwed up the rest of the episode for me because the ending was setting up for the rest of the season.

i have to say i think it was a let down, the story seemed to just sit there and simmer for the hour before they decided to get to some details, and as for goregena, i heard she has a couple episode story arc before she moves on, death, prison, or just peacing out, we will find out eventually. lol
