Some have made the argument that actor Ted McGinley is the patron saint of all things television. I mean, sure Teddy-M.C. has a wide and varied career and holds the power to destroy entire series with his very presence.

Well Mr. McGinley, I've met Bruce Campbell (once, almost, it's a long story). I know Bruce Campbell (not really, but Bob probably knows him better than I do). And you, sir, are no Bruce Campbell.

And just to prove it, let me pose a question: has anyone ever held a "Ted McGinley Watch" in his television honor? I didn't think so. Writer and blogger John Sellers has revived the annual TV tradition on his popular True/Slant blog.

Sellers started the annual BC worship service in the pages of Time Out New York magazine. Why, you ask? Why the hell not? The man has more acting credits to his name than a starving commercial actor and can be seen on your television in everything from late night B-movies to syndicated shows like Hercules and Xena. And this was back in 1998 long before he struck gold with Burn Notice. I'm surprised USA didn't call it Bruce Notice.

The idea was birthed by Campbell's literary agent John Hodgman. Yes, the same John "Areas of My Expertise" Hodgman who appears in the Mac ads as the evil PC and on The Daily Show as their "resident expert." Hodgman apparently came up with the idea and "dared" Sellers to do it, and the feature was born. The magazine would list the actor's upcoming TV appearances each month until "my editors said ... the 'Bruce Campbell Watch' had to die." I'm sure the feature went out in a blaze of fire breathing deadites, buzzing chainsaws, and a thousand crying half naked ladies when it did.

But now that Sellers is on the web and blogging (e.g. a form of media designed specifically to bankrupt every editor on the planet) and Campbell's name is bigger than ever, he decided to bring the project back to life. Whether or not he used some unholy book bound in human flesh to do so, I have no idea.

The latest entry on the subject features Campbell's appearances for the month of August, but hopefully, if enough people bug him, he'll keep the thing going. Yeah and maybe I'm a Chinese jet pilot.
