Wait a second: Rachael Ray won Best Talk Show?

Rachael RayAs Allison told you earlier this morning, Rachael Ray won the Emmy for Best Talk Show last night. And to that I'd like to ask, have any of the people who voted for it actually watched the show?

I like cooking shows and light, mindless entertainment, so I would think that Ray's show would be a natural for me, but...gah.

As I've said he many times, Ray is fine in very small doses. I remember watching her 30 Minute Meals on Food Network several years ago, and it was actually a great show because she seemed perky and her show was actually useful. But now that she's on every single day of the year, several times a day, she's not that inviting anymore, and there are a dozen other shows on TV that do what 30 Minute Meals does.

But back to her daytime show. Maybe I'm completely the wrong demographic, but I find it geared towards the (supposed) problems women have way too much: cleaning closets, which shoes to buy, how to get great makeup for less, and makeovers, makeovers, makeovers.

It's also heavy on the relationship and medical advice, and maybe that's something that people who watch this show all the time want to see, but I find it way out of what should be Ray's realm: teaching us how to cook meals quickly and interviewing celebrities. It's like a women's magazine in TV form. (And personally, there are just so many times I can stand Ray saying "grab a snack," "into the hot tub," and "pasta facial.")

I don't know. I really wish I liked the show more, but it's off-putting to me, and even if it wasn't, I don't get how she wins Best Talk Show.
