Straight from the Press Room at Fox, the complete series of Futurama (Seasons 1 to 4, plus the four movies) is being released October 13 in a collectible Bender head for the low, low price of $169.98 ($199.98 Canadian). Of course, once those new Comedy Central episodes are shown, this won't be the complete series anymore. Don't tell Fox. They need to sell DVDs.I wish I could justify getting this set, but I already purchased the first four seasons of the show on DVD and this isn't worth getting just for the four direct-to-DVD movies. Dear Fox: please release the four movies in a collectible head of Richard Nixon. Or one of the other characters. Which collectible head would you prefer to have?
The box set is also being released in honor of Futurama's ten-year anniversary. Can you believe this Simpsons knock-off is ten years old already? Just kidding. Family Guy is the Simpsons knock-off.

This is actually a pretty good deal. It's a shame they don't have a Blu-ray box set available of this. I think a lot of DVD owners would buy that box set.. or at least some.
It's remarkable its been on the air for ten years though it doesn't feel like it.
I suppose that is because there was no new content from 2003 to 2007 and when there was new content it was in movie form with each movie being released a wide lenght apart.
I hope this show comes back and does well there is a lack of quality animation on the tv at the moment.

Yeah, I don't think "on the air for 10 years" is the right phrase to use here...

Well, as long as the new episodes don't have Billy West, Katey Segal, and the rest of the original cast of voice actors, they don't count as "Futurama episodes" (it's some other lame knockoff of Futurama confusingly named Futurama)... so this DVD set will always be the full series. Unless they work out a deal with the original cast to come do the new eps.

How is $170 a good deal???
The individual sets alone usually go for around $30 to $35 each, sometimes less. That means this really should be around a $120 to $140...

The only way I will buy Futurama again is if they converted everything to high def, but it's probably too costly a venture to do (all CG has to be rerendered, all art rescanned and that's just doing it without going widescreen).
