It's not that I don't think that there's something naturally funny about someone getting beaten up on a cartoon (and I'm actually a fan of Family Guy, unlike a lot of people who don't find it funny), it's just that I don't think that this is particularly funny. It's clever at first because it's getting in a little dig at The Office, but then Stewie starts with the punching and the beating and the use of the toilet to torture Brian and I think the humor drains out of it.
I don't think that the show will win the award for Best Comedy. They just aren't ready to do that, if they ever will be. It's either going to be 30 Rock or, yes, The Office.

Obviously you're not a Family Guy fan, or you'd realize that this was an actual scene from an episode where Brian owed Stewie money and Stewie said "Where's my money?" The fact that they changed it around to "Where's my Emmy?," and the jabs at The Office (which I'm a huge fan of) actually were funny.

Yo Bob, nice try but like several other "true" fans, you have no idea where this originated. The bet that Brian lost was who would win a fight between Mike Tyson and Carol Channing. Do I need to further explain to you Bob who Brian took to win the fight?

Heh... the original scene was the last time I laughed at Family Guy. That was pretty funny though... not surprised that Bob's never heard of it.

C'mon Bob. I try and defend you on this site but it is hard when you don't even recognize one of the funniest scenes from an actual Family Guy episode. They have just dubbed over the original footage with new dialogue for their Emmy campaign.
I look forward to them doing the same thing with the other shows in their category.

It just seems weird to me that a show like Family Guy, which satirizes pretty much all elements of pop culture, is suddenly begging for Emmy approval now that it's been nominated. More thoughts at The Brown Tweed Society:

After I first read your post, I thought I must have missed some incredibly subtle sarcasm indicating that you actually know where that scene is from...but I guess not.

Yep... do your homework just a tad before taking the time to type this all up. This was actually a really funny episode of Family Guy dubbed over. The show is fantastic.

I'm sorry but you obviously aren't a real fan of Family Guy. If you were, you would know that this scene is actually a clip from a previous episode. True it is a bit violent, but the humor in the show is the fact that it is a cartoon. In reality, are no talking dogs nor any babies that commit assults. Take it for what it is... just entertainment.

This seen was in the "Patriot Games" episode. It is IMHO the funniest Family Guy episode so far. I actually kept it on my DVR for several months just because of that scene.

This has to be the most insulting stupidest show on tv. Some people I know watch it. Every time I see it I want to puke. Get the damn show off the air.

For someone who's supposed to be a baby, Stewie is one of the nastiest little brats that's ever come across the screen! He's not funny, he's not a star, he's not a loving "son" to ANYbody, and the episode of Brian (dog) having an affair with the woman was absolutely ludicrous! This whole show makes no sense and has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. And uneducated homo sapiens, both male and female, who watch it are just perpetuating the caveman lack of intellect.

Are you slow,or have you just never seen a cartoon before? Real rabbits don't take guns away from hunters and shoot them either, unless you think Bugs Bunny is real.
