ABC has picked up the pilot script for a new supernatural series called Clive Barker's Hotel. It was written by a couple of the folks behind some of the Saw movies. Clive Barker himself is a producer, which makes sense; otherwise, why would he attach his name to the project? Not to be a negative person, but it's always a bad sign when the creator's name has to be attached to a project. It screams a lack of faith in the project itself (and possibly a lack of quality) when those behind it need to use a famous person's name for a movie or series.
I'm sure if it's that big a deal they could change the name of the series to Haunted Hotel, or maybe even something that is more lyrical and original. To the best of my knowledge, having the creator's name attached didn't really help Stephen King's Golden Years, which never even finished its run as a mini-series.
