Some clever nerd snapped a few pics of Tom Welling wearing what looks to be his Superman-meets-Neo supersuit on the set of Smallville.
Fans of the show have been waiting to see Welling wear the Superman outfit for years. If the leaked Comic-Con trailer is to be believed, then Smallville's Clark Kent will finally sport the Superman "S" on his chest in the show's upcoming ninth season.
I know these pics don't reveal much (but the season nine trailer does!), but what do you guys think about the costume? Is the dark trench coat a good idea, or would you rather see Clark wearing the classic combo, a bright red cape and blue tights? I'm cool with the change, but I doubt this will be Clark's final Superman costume. I'm sure the show will end with Clark at least holding the classic red and blue garb in his hands.

As far as the whole "emo"er.. "neo" phase of "superboy", this does seem to be a darker tale of Superman's origin, though not all that dark. I believe the black suit is very appropriate if for no other reason than when the red yellow and blue show up, they will beam!
