Cartoon Network picked Thursday to announce a lineup of new, green-lit shows and the return of a couple successful 2008 outings. The two new original comedy animated series include Regular Show and the intriguingly entitled Horrorbots. The former was developed by the network's sort of "animator in training" developmental system, Cartoonstitute.
Regular Show is created by J. G. Quintel and was developed as a short for the development program. In each episode, "two bored groundskeepers, Mordecai (a six-foot-tall blue jay) and Rigby (a hyperactive raccoon) are best friends who spend their days trying to entertain themselves by any means necessary, much to the displeasure of Benson (their boss, who is a gumball machine) and to the delight of Pops (an older, lollipop-headed gentleman)."
Horrorbots animates the story of Thrasher and Blastus, "two outsider teenage droids who are only slightly less horrific than the ultra-powerful robots that populate their planet, Killglobe." Created by Michael Buckley (The Sisters Grimm) and Joe Deasy, the series will be co-executive produced by Christy Karacas (Adult Swim's Superjail).
In addition to prepping what executives hope could be the next Spongebob, Cartoon Network is also a picking up more episodes of The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Adventure Time for 2009.

By the way, where is "The Office (UK)"? I remember reading back in April that it was coming to CN 'this summer', but I have yet to see it in the lineup anywhere...
Did they change their plans?

The Office is coming to Adult Swim, not Cartoon Network (they're "technically" not the same channel) Fridays starting September 18 (yeah, it's still technically summer as promised).

Because Cartoon Network/Adult Swim is ran by executives and programmers hellbent on transforming it into a poor man's Nickelodeon/Disney Channel at the expense of alienating and losing their core audience and becoming the laughingstock of the television industry, which they're becoming and doing. Cartoon Network's ratings have dipped below the top 20 because of this newfound live-action agenda, which is why announcements like Regular Show and Horrorbots are made in the middle of August and publicized by TV Squad today.

Yeah, Chowder's toast. C H Greenblatt's been talking about it off and on at his blog Nerd Armada for a couple months now. http://nerdarmada.blogspot.com/
Pity, I liked the show.
