Big Brother 11: Not so Live Eviction #5, HoH #6

Jeff holds the mystery power on tonight's Big Brother 11

(S11E16) Ah, it's the big night for the Big Brother 11 hamsters! While Chima has nominated Russell and Lydia for eviction, Jeff holds the power of coup d'etat. With that power, he can overthrow Chima's nominations and choose replacements. Tonight's show isn't only controversial for the houseguests, it's caused a brouhaha for the fans.

CBS should realize in this day of blogs, tweets, and more ... you have the audience arrive several hours early and word gets out. Although taped early with the live feeds blocked, I knew the outcome before it aired. Why did they tape it ahead of time this week? Did Jeff use his magical unicorn powers? Read on.

According to various sources, including TVGuide.com, the not-so-live live eviction is due to Chima's threats to turn the show into a train wreck if anyone changes her nominations. She indeed has been making threats on the live feeds all week leading into tonight. Apparently, production must consider her a loose cannon and taped the show. That in and of itself wouldn't be as horrible if they didn't block the folks who pay money to have the live feeds. Those were blocked until the conclusion of the show on the east coast.

Despite the fact that we were all tuning in to see if just maybe Jeff might possibly make his big power move of the season, we were fed recaps and filler bits for a good half-hour. The tension grew. Yet we had more filler. Argh!

  • Who has the wizard power?
  • I think Jeff-Kevin-Michele ... has the power.
  • Jessie worried, Jessie running scared.
  • Russell campaigning for votes.
  • Natalie can't play badminton to save her soul.
  • What soul?
  • Jessie and Russell snout-to-snout in a facedown fight. Sigh, no fisticuffs.

The best filler segment was all about Chima. And, for once it wasn't Chima all about Chima. It was her best friend and her grandmother. Even though I tend to find the grandmother's claim of being proud of her in the house a bit sketchy, she thinks Chima should quiet down and think. Yes! Chima's all about "I'm a princess" and in your face shout-downs. If she'd mellow out a bit, she could be a very good player.

Then the moment came ...
Julie Chen asked the coup d'etat winner to stand if the power will be used. Yes! Jeff stood up. Jessie shrank down and his cheeks outright blanched. First Jeff replaced Lydia with Natalie, then Russell with Jessie. I danced a happy dance! Natalie and Jessie on the block! How perfect is that? One has to go home and we all know who it should be.

Yeah, I'm talking about the person whom I didn't care for last year, and whom was unfairly put back in the house and into the HoH spot the first week this season. My dream came to fruition. Neither Chima nor Jeff could vote, but they'd both be allowed to compete for HoH. Lydia and Russell voted to evict Natalie (definitely personal votes) while Kevin, Jordan, and Michele voted to evict Jessie. He's gone!

The HoH comp, although an important one, was a bit anticlimactic after the Jessie ouster. Kevin took his cues from his supreme leader Chima. It didn't matter. In the end, it was Michele who won. Now she actually has the power and can't play up to the side with power, it's going to be interesting which side she'll stay with. She's an outsider who can't win the game anyway. Chances are if she ever makes it to the final two, the person next to her will get the jury vote.

Jackie calls out bad sportsmanship
What? Bad sportsmanship on Big Brother? You don't say! Yes, Jessie actually showed some good sportsmanship when he manned up and told Jeff he made a good move by using the coup d'etat. But he almost shoved Kevin aside when he hugged everyone else. He probably figured out Kevin was the vote which put him over the edge with Michele and Jordan.

Jessie went on to gripe about America voting him out. Why, yes, Jessie. We did orchestrate your eviction via voting for Jeff to receive the coup d'etat. You're welcome. Anytime. Please don't appear on the show again. Chima also cussed out America for "voting him out again." It was our pleasure, Chima.

She also threatened to tell production that Jeff told Lydia about the power. That did not happen -- he just once promised her if he could save her, he would. Chima continued to show that she's such a special snowflake by telling the production staff her patience was wearing thin while waiting to be let back into the house after the HoH comp.

Who will Michele nominate?
