Big Brother 11: Power of Veto #5

Lydia has been nominated for eviction from the Big Brother house
(S11E15) On Sunday we saw Lydia and Russell nominated for eviction from the Big Brother 11 house. I'm a bit torn between the two. You see, if Lydia goes, great looks like this one above will be over. She's all but summoning the ghost of a twisted tattooed Lucille Ball. Lydia has intriguing good looks, but she's also a chameleon running the gamut in appearance from Betty Boop to punk rocker. She's not my favorite hamster in the house, but I enjoy seeing what look she'll come up with next. On the other hand, Russell never does much with either his hair or his make-up.

If it were a normal week in the house -- not that there is such a thing as "normal" in there -- it would be the two noms and only the possibility of the power of veto winner possibly saving one. This week the hamsters have the power of coup d'etat thrown in the mix. Or, as they call it, the wizard power. The houseguests know less about the secret power than we do at this point. But they're pretty sure it can change the nominations. And, they have no clue who holds the power. We know that would be Jeff.

Jessie has gone outright paranoid, believing a unicorn will come on Thursday to oust him from the house. A unicorn? The guy's pinheaded mind must be working overtime on that one! Pushing Jessie to the edge even more was Russell's betrayal by picking Jeff to play for the power of veto. Due to even more increased tension in the house, everyone's just a bit touchy. Well, Jordan not so much. She pretty much sits and gapes in amazement when the brouhahas go down.

As Russell goes around trying to mend fences, he's actually throwing more fuel on the fires. The man just can't handle the lying (which he should expect) in the house when it comes to going against his own game. I really can't figure out what's going on with Michele. She's being like a non-pompous butt Ronnie. She's telling stupid lies and now runs to her girls, Chima and Natalie. I don't think Chima and Natalie want her for anything more than a number. Russell might be right. She might be a nutcase. But it puts him in a bad light to bully her.

Then there's the Russell/Chima hate-fest. She was coming onto him when he was head of household, but now they're mortal enemies. Despite a size difference, I'd almost say Chima could beat him if it became physical. Russell isn't doing himself any favors by constantly clashing with her.

Chima's not boding too well for herself calling him names like "terrorist." Yes, she has a point about the bullying. However, that word has taken on a more specific meaning in recent years and the live feeds have shown that she's not just meaning "bully terrorizing the house." That's where Russell's responses of "racist" came from. You gotta love the editing on the show!

The power of veto comp itself was a bit off the wall. They've been pushing the school theme all season and now they're suddenly in a barnyard working eggs up a chicken wire fence. Um ... okay. The chicken suits and Wicked Witch of the East socks were amusing. I also had to laugh as pit bull Natalie couldn't cope with the comp at all.

Kevin won! How great for his best buddy Lydia! Not only was everyone telling her that she's safe and Russell's the target, but her cuddle bear won the veto! Surely he'll save her! Happy dances and warm sunshine rays all around! Then it all comes crashing to the ground. Kevin, thinking of his own numbers in the game, decides that Lydia is safe without the use of the veto. He bows to the female bully in her own way, Chima. So, it remains Russell and Lydia on the block. Uh-oh.

Should Kevin have used the veto to save Lydia?
