I realize that celebrities don't always have an easy time of it. They're hounded by photographers, work crazy hours, spend time away from their families while on location, and never know when their current gig might end through no fault of their own.
But, you know what? The rest of us don't have an easy time of it either. Sure, most of us don't have photographers hounding us at every turn, but we work crazy hours, spend time away from our families working, and never know when OUR current gigs might end through no fault of our own.
So it always drives me a little batty when celebrities whine about having to work long hours and such, like Katherine Heigl did on the Late Show with David Letterman and other talk shows -- especially since the aforementioned long day was the direct result of accommodating her schedule while promoting her new film The Ugly Truth.
For the record, she said, "It was -- I'm going to keep saying this because I hope it embarrasses them -- a 17-hour day, which I think is cruel and mean."
Cruel and mean? No, Katherine. Cruel and mean is what life is when the bank forecloses on your house after you lost your job because your company downsized.
She's probably ticked that T.R. Knight is gone, and maybe she blames the Grey's Anatomy folks for that. But, really, she wouldn't be so quick to whine about long hours if she was out here with the rest of us, eking out a living as best we can. And hey, at least SHE has a job, which is more than a lot of folks can say right now. I love you, Katherine, but wake up!

she's always been a diva. On "Roswell," she and 'Max' wanted to leave the show after the first season. I thought she was being ungrateful.

And lets not forget when she bashed Knocked Up after it made her a movie star.

Jason Behr never wanted to leave Roswell. Where did you hear this from? The problem with those mistakes is that they were dating in the second and third season, which was when his behavior started to change - due to dating her and her attitude rubbed off. But he never wanted off that show.
And she didn't start complaining until the second season, which is why her behavior is no surprise to anyone who saw her on Roswell.

Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen were on Stern a couple of weeks ago and brought up her comments about Knocked Up. Rogen had a great response about her new movie The Ugly Truth, saying "That sounds like it really puts women on a pedestal."

Just wait - she'll turn 40 and the whole ball game changes. If she's wise, she will shut up, save her money and pump out as many rom-coms as possible for the next nine years.

Tick Tock.
Let's just hope her 15 minutes are just about to expire!
I know if I see her in a movie these days I would avoid it. Tired of her diva-ness and her one character she plays.

Please. 17 hour work days are nothing to a lot of people, including myself. And I guarantee I do a lot more work during that time than just table reading.

I have to agree with you Rick. My dad often works more than 20 hours a day during the week and frequently works on weekends. He is just grateful to have a job.

I bet, unlike her, he doesn't collect a huge paycheck and have several months a year off.
I would gladly work 17 hour days, collect a 6 to 7 figure income and have months at a time off.

I've always disliked her, and now I know I was right. She's complained about every single project in which she participated. By the way, her 17 hour work day isn't actually "working" for 17 hours straight. How many of those hours do you think she sat in her trailer doing absolutely nothing? And she makes much more per episode than many people (with jobs) make in a year. Just thank your lucky stars and shut the hell up. Also, she's not much of an actress.
I wish people would stop hiring her.

i agree that it's annoying/stupid for her to make such comments... but what i find strange is that this happened weeks ago and you're just now writing a piece on it.
not exactly current and relevant for the tvsquad readers.

It happened last week, and if it's old to you don't read it. Boo hoo, she's such a wittle victim. Give me a break, please. She brings it on herself.

so...I thought Heigl was joking when she "complained" on Letterman. Are people now thinking she was serious when she made those remarks?

Exactly, she was joking, sarcasm people. I don't care for her but really when your on one of these talk shows, jokes and such are the way to go. I think if she didn't have this bad rep people would not even be commenting about it but the story and comment have gotten out of control.I can't believe everyone is taking the comment seriously. Is there a clip of the interview, what was the context of the comment?

The more you idiots claim that she was "joking" the dumber you sound. One isn't joking when they repeat it ENDLESSLY, which is what she did. If she knew what sarcasm was, she might actually be better at it, but she's not because she wasn't being sarcastic. She has the bad rep because of her own uneducated big mouth. And I can't believe that schmucks like you are still sticking up for her. It doesn't matter what the "context" of it is when it's CONSTANTLY repeated. And for someone that pretends to know how it was said and therefore how it should be taken by the public, why would you need to see a video of it to "check the context?" Maybe because you didn't see it so you really haven't any room to talk about how others' should take it.

The trouble with this young lady is if I could buy her for what she's worth and sell her for what she thinks she's worth, I'd make a tidy profit.
She's soap opera grade talent and to get the breaks she has, she should thank her God and shut her pie hole.
