Never change, Sylvia Browne

sylvia browneSylvia Browne has been around forever. That's not to say she's immortal (although, hey, maybe she'll argue you on that one), but the self-proclaimed clairvoyant is a longtime fixture of the talk TV circuit, having appeared on many a Montel, Sally Jesse Raphael, and Larry King Live. As a skeptic might expect from someone who claims to see ghosts and spirits and all that celestial hooey (no offense, believers!), Browne is, indeed, quite a character.

The trollish 72-year-old Kansas City native and founder of the "Gnostic Christian" church The Society of Novus Spiritus stands at about four feet tall with a heavy lisp, pyramid-style haircut (take note, Kate Gosselin!), fingernails designed like corn chips, and make-up fit for a clown plucked from the I Look Crazy Traveling Circus.

Gravely-voiced and characteristically abrasive, Browne is an incredible force to behold on television, if for no other reason than the fact that, upon second glance, one could easily mistake Miss Piggy describing a gruesome death as if it were that day's lunch specials. Her seeming indifference and absence of sympathy when providing people with possibly life-changing information -- upon which some people will surely base every day of their life -- is always a mind-bogglingly comic adventure that somehow only seems funnier when no one onscreen is laughing (which is almost always the case).

Needless to say, Sylvia has encountered a Wikipedia's page worth of controversy, including a site devoted to single-handedly destroying her career ...which somehow didn't happen after Browne pleaded no contest to securities fraud and was indicted on charges of grand larceny. (Guess that one escaped her readings.)

Most importantly, though (although, in actuality, not important at all), is that Sylvia Browne has provided us with a delicious array of online clips chronicling some of her best, worst, and weirdest moments in ...predicting the future and stuff, or whatever she does. Witness the good, the bad, and the ugly...
