So You Think You Can Dance: 2 of 6 Voted Off

Melissa and Evan dance the quickstep(S05E21) I'm happy to hear Cat announce that the filler in this episode would be the four Emmy nominated performances. It would actually be interesting if next season they could try a "Where are they now?" segment on the results shows.

The eliminations weren't shocking to me, but watching Cat announce that Jeanine and Brandon were the two that didn't have to perform solos was a relief and a pain. They had the best performances last night.

Group Performance

"Send in the Clowns" – Judy Collins (Tyce DiOrio) – Why can't the choreographers create performances like this during actual competitions? I thought the choreography matched the song well and the movements didn't have to be as synchronized because of the execution. Evan not in the box had to be foreshadowing of the finale.

Emmy Nominated Performances

Jessica & Will"Silence" – (Tyce DiOrio) – Last season had a lot of underrated performances. I forgot about this performance and who Jessica was because of her broken ankle.

Katee & Twitch "Mercy" (Mia Michaels) – I admit it, I love this performance. Sure, Katee did all the work, but I didn't notice Twitch's moonwalk. I never did get why a door would be an inch shorter than the frame so Katee's fingers wouldn't get squished.

Chelsie & Joshua"A Los Amigos" (Dmitry Chaplin) – Chelsie Hightower won me over with her chipper attitude and mile long legs on SYTYCD, but when I watched her teach Ty Murray on Dancing with the Stars? Miraculous. I hope she's back on DWTS with a celebrity with potential.

Chelsie & Mark"Bleeding Love" (Napoleon & Tabitha D'umo) –The performance was great, except I kept staring at the broken suitcase. Mark didn't close it at the end either.

Solos

Melissa"I Put A Spell On You" - Nina Simone - Why don't the solos have the countdowns on the performance nights? All the performances tonight were exactly the same as the night before except for the audience counting down.

Ade "18th Floor Balcony" - Blue October - I would be so nervous if I was in the audience and Ade leaped at me; he'd land on me.

Kayla "You Found Me" - The Fray - She missed the big cue in the song, probably just the soundstage echo.

Evan - "The Lady Is a Tramp" - Sammy Davis, Jr. - I found his performance to be more energetic tonight, but still the same.

Guest Performances

JabbaWockeeZ - "Freak-A-Zoid" - Midnight Star – The big draw of the JabbaWockeeZ is their precision work, and it was on tonight. It slipped on America's Best Dance Crew when they had limited time to create performances. It's also nice to see Fox being friendly with Shane Sparks by allowing another show's dancers.

Sean Paul"So Happy" - What happened to the cool riddims of 2003? Sean Paul just isn't as good anymore, and releasing the steam at the end didn't impress me either. I just couldn't get past Sean Paul's friend behind the dancers who would scream random phrases in the back.

The Results

Just as I thought last night, we finally saw the end of Melissa & Ade. It was a little weird watching their goodbye videos because the two were involved in so many performances together.

I'm under the assumption that we'll see every combination of dancers next week. My personal vote lies in Jeanine, and I hope she at least gets best female dancer. Going into the finale, where does your support lie? How much will next week's dances change your votes? Leave comments below.
