I'm not sure how identifiable the Nickelodeon logo is. They've used it for a while, but I don't think it's as tied into the network as, say, the CBS eye logo, though kids would probably beg to differ. But all networks update or replace their logos at some point, and now Nickelodeon is doing the same thing. They're getting rid of the splat.One of the reasons is pretty funny: the network execs realized it looked terrible on their business cards.
So what should replace this logo?

I disagree with you, the orange splat (and other orange symbols with the logo on it) is iconic. Or was. It was introduced in 1984, 25 years ago.
I always disagreed with Nick's decision to brand daytime program as Nick Jr., geared to preschoolers. It should have been marketed to kids home sick from school. The name? Sickelodeon.

I love the splat and I know the kids will bed to differ. One of my son's first words was Target - not because he could read, but because of the bullseye - same goes for Mickey D's those golden arches speak volumes for the brand....
I'll be very sad to see the splat go -and if indeed that "logo" that Jimmy posted is the direction they're going in, they've missed they're audience...these are kids that needs to be brought into the brand, not the people receiving the business cards.

this is so sad i loved Nickelodeon i grew up with Nickelodeon such as tiny toon adventures hey arnold the rugrats pinky and the brain animaniacs man now the logo goes to whats happening their going to get rid of nickelodeon i mean come on for gods sake nickelodeon has been around since the pinwheel channel which was introcued in 1977 as the pinwheel channel come on Nickelodeon has been around for like 30 years 32 years.... anyway whatever Nickelodeon should'nt change their logo this has been around forever and now its gonn ):
