I think HBO is getting turned on by tackling sex in unconventional ways. They've found recent success with Thomas Jane's male gigolo in Hung. And now HBO's nabbed the venerable Diane Keaton to star in an as-yet-untitled series about a feminist icon who tries to light a fire under the movement by launching a dirty magazine for women.Hell, the idea of a dirty magazine for women is taboo enough for a TV show. Aren't we led to believe that women are above all that; that only men are depraved enough to prop up that entire industry? Suddenly, in two different half-hour comedies, HBO is taking a long hard look at female sexuality in a way that's even more scrutinizing than Sex and the City.
The original idea was to have a young feminist work at an existing porn magazine. Thank god creators Marti Noxon and Dawn Parouse changed their minds. It's much more intriguing to consider an older woman spearheading such an enterprise. I am interested in what name they ultimately come up with for the show. What would you call it?

Given that the only mainstream "dirty" magazine, Playgirl stopped print publication a while back, seems like the idea behind this series is a bit out of date.

A lot of people forget Playgirl started out as a magazine with real feminist-style articles. Back in the 70s, it really WAS possible to read it for the articles.
I'm reminded of what Jessica Alba said to GQ magazine back in 2007:
"Men's magazines have nipples so why don't women have a magazine where men show their penises? There's Playgirl but not a fashion magazine like Elle... If there was a magazine like that I'd buy it."

You can't compare breasts to penises, dumb-ass! You dumb feminists need to learn how to make accurate comparisons;try comparing apples to apples, not apples to oranges! Breasts are NON-GENITAL nudity. In most countries, including almost all of Europe, women regularly go topless just like men. So breast "nudity" is socially acceptable and relatively inoffensive. But a penis is GENITAL nudity. It is the actual reproductive organ. That is equivelant to a vagina. Men's magazines don't regularly show vaginas, do they? So why should women's mags show penises? If women's mags start showing penises, as an act of feminist misandry, then we men will start publishing women's vaginas and anuses in our magazines! Fair is fair, after all. What's good for the goose, is good for the gander. If you want to see penises so badly honey, just rent some porn. Genital nudity of men or women should stay in adult mags only.

This series idea is idiotic. It is just catering to the prurient, lowest common denominator sluts in HBO's audience. It is patently offensive to men, exploitative, and misandric. I'm sick of all the garbage HBO has been putting out lately. Can't they make anything good, without having to resort to cheap attempts to exploit the male body or treat men in objectifying and offensive ways? I'm cancelling my subscription!
