Big Brother 11: Nominations #1

Braden from Big Brother 11 is kind of out there, dude

(S11E02) Tonight's episode of Big Brother 11 was technically the nominations show. However, in true Big Brother fashion, it was full of fodder. It was during the fodder moments that I decided that surfer dude Braden isn't quite on the same plane as most of us. He just doesn't make sense! It's kind of like he wants to be the Ben Wade of the Big Brother house with spiritual philosophical mumbo-jumbo. But in reality, I fear he's just an eye-candy space cadet.

We got to know more about many of the hamsters this evening. I fear little of the material will endear any of us to them. If you're endeared to one, please feel free to treat me all snarky in comments if you wish. Sure, there were a few I kind of sort of might like. But usually by now I have a clear-cut favorite hamster, and that's just not happening this season.

I want to like the brainy clique. After all, I always got good grades in school. I'm smart. But just when I want to cheer them on, they miserably fail at the BB Rave! That's the replacement for the food comp this season. When a clique loses, they not only eat slop, but they're also given cold showers and have to sleep on floor mats in a barren room. I actually like that change ... especially since it freaked Chima out so much!

But how could the supposedly smart group not realize that the shortest distance between two points when building a pipeline would be a relatively straight line? Ronnie had them looping around like a Hot Wheels track! Sheesh! At least Casey of the Off Beat bunch figured the straight line bit out. Since I can roughly identify with both of those high school cliques, I guess I'm satisfied that one did well.

The group which is really getting my panties in a bunch is the "Athletes." Mind you, it's mainly the Russell and Jessie block. Jeff is an outsider within the clique and Natalie seems to be going with the flow. My main hope for her is that she's using Jessie and Russell, not that she's really impressed by them. Jessie and Russell have too much power right now and are akin to a huge boulder rolling down the mountain bound to destroy anything in their path. They must be stopped!

Oh, but not in tonight's episode. With Russell doing Jessie's thinking for him (despite the fact Jessie said that wouldn't happen), Jessie put Lydia on the block. Actually, Lydia is one of the few who intrigues me. Jessie wouldn't have put her on the block without Russell's input. Thanks to Ronnie's alliance approach to Jessie, Chima is on the block as a pawn. We know how that usually works out, don't we?

Who's playing a smart game? None of them right now. But hope springs eternal and, as Braden would say, the gods will smile their flowing rainbows our way.

Do you have a favorite houseguest yet?
