Conan unveils the Tour-Iffic Tram-Tacular
One night, Conan O'Brien is going to stop using the Universal tour tram as a comedic device to go to. Last night was not that night. But I guess this is funny enough. The tour stops in front of the Tonight Show doors now, but it's a pretty boring strop, and Conan and Andy Ricther wanted to give tourists something to remember.

I understand him being happy to be at Universal Studios, but does he have to mention it over and over again? Reminds me about back when the original American Gladiators were there, or when Nickelodeon shows were at Nickelodeon Studios at Universal. It really cheapens the fact that this is THE TONIGHT SHOW.
The problem with NBC Universal from day one has been that the TV execs (like Jeff Zucker) have been in charge, making the TV network, and not the film studio, the crown jewel of the company. It should be the other way around.
Also, I think the large studio audience of 300+ actually hurts the show, as Conan needs to ask for people to halt the applause every night.

The wild appluase will die down soon enoguh, once the newness factor has worn off.
As for the frequent mention of their new location, I think a lot of it is intentional to drive it home that the show is no longer Leno's Tonight Show with a different host. Sure, some of it may be corporate synergy, hoping to boost business at the theme park, but I think it's just as much Conan establishing that it's a new set, a new studio, a new location and a new host, i.e. an entirely new show.
Plus you have to admit that being right on the Universal lot does offer a lot of entertainment potential.
