Remember that Veronica Mars movie that so many people were talking about? Well, according to an interview with series star Kristen Bell, it ain't happening. She and series creator Rob Thomas pitched the idea to Joel Silver and there was a resounding lack of interest. She suggested that fans try a letter-writing campaign.I'm kind of surprised at that reaction, given that Veronica Mars is a recognizable brand name and would be relatively cheap to make (it's not exactly laden with special effects). While I considered the series to be a Buffy clone (that solved mysteries rather than fought vampires), it was a pretty good show in the beginning.
The only show I can think of that quickly went from TV to cancellation to a movie would be Firefly and that happened because of stellar DVD sales. So, if you really want that Veronica Mars movie, along with the letter-writing campaign, start buying more DVDs of the show.

I contend that Veronica Mars was a better Show than Buffy.

Last season o Vmars or Buffy. I thought the mini seasons that made up season 3 of Vmars was top notch.

I think part of the problem is, the actress is no longer a kid (or able to play a high schooler convincingly -- she was 24 when the series started). Of course, Thomas is probably pitching a movie that takes place after the series... but, really, in the context of a standalone movie, what would be so interesting about this character as an adult female PI? There has to be more to a VM movie than that, and even I, a fan of the series, ain't feelin' it.

From now on I'm buying the DVDs as gifts for birthdays and Christmases for everyone I know. Maybe if all the fans did that it would cause a Firefly effect and get a movie made.

Thomas said in one of his little blurbs on EW.com that the movie would take place a few days before college graduation. Which would've matched up with the time between the cancellation of the show and potential filming.

I enjoyed the original show, and with the poor quality of so many current shows would welcome a movie with open wallet.

Buffy clone?! What the blazes? Buffy was a cute show and all but really it never dealt with anything on the level of what Mars faced.
Sorry but if one viewed Mars as a Buffy clone then one never watched Mars from the beginning.
Buffy would make a fine movie as it was episodic by design (typical of amusing Whedon shows - like firefly) and it started as a movie. VM was about a long mystery each season (the only two seasons that matter) - hardly something one can move to a movie.

I have to be honest and say that this show should have ended in season 1. I LOVE the show, but the last two seasons weren't very good. The first season, however, was perfect. It's hard for anything to live up to it.

Have you watched both shows?? I remember Buffy dealing with the death of her mother and the attempted rape by Spike. Anyone with a brain can see the metaphors for life all through BTVS.
I loved Veronica Mars. Own all the DVD's, got my fiance hooked on the show and would love to see a movie. Rob Thomas is a great storyteller but don't discount the genius that is Joss Whedon.

Joel Silver was on board for a VM movie, it's Warner Brothers that we have to convince to give it a greenlight.
If anyone wants to help do that please join Neptune Rising: The Veronica Mars Movement.

i believe there needs to be a movie made. At the end of season 3 there are so many things left unanswered. For us fans there should be something to tie up loss ends like what happens to Logan and Veronica? Did veronica become an fbi agent? im just saying for us who are fans, we have the right to know happen and not just ending it the way it did.
