As it stands, I would have been much happier if they had put it all off until the results of the entire autopsy came back. I have to fly to LA on Sunday and dealing with all the idiots on their way to the memorial service is something I could distinctly do without....

No one should cover it out of respect for the family. But then again the thing is at the freakin Staples Center so I guess the family wants media coverage. So then I still say no out of respect for the people who are freaking sick of all the MJ coverage.

There should be no coverage. The guy died young, and that is sad, but he was just a man...the media is treating him like some kind of god. Let him rest in whatever peace he can find, already!

I agree - no coverage at all. He was a singer, a dancer, perhaps simply an all-encompassing entertainer. Nothing more.

How many of us care who gets custody of his children and who he included and excluded in his will? The network news spend about 45 minutes out of an hour talking about all things related to him. Must be a slow day in the news department.

Oh, thank goodness I'm not the only one who feels this way! ENOUGH already!! They'll probably continue to cover this spectacle all next week, which will be the third week of this.

If Elvis suddenly rose from the dead, there might be less coverage than there's been over Michael Jackson's death.

hero worship by the B-52's could be played at the memorial service HECK !! it is such a spectacle maybe they can be there to perform it LIVE !!! though his death led me to find out that there is a 3rd Jackson sister - Janet, LaToya, and Maureen "Rebbie" I never knew that so I learned someting new about that family. She even had a hit song in 1984 called centipede LOL

give it a rest - it's Tuesday and if you don't like it tune out. let him have this last time in the spotlight - I think we still get Elvis and Princess Diana and they have been gone a while now. Let the fans and family mourn and celebrate in the way that they choose to do so. If you don't like it fly on a different day, tune out of the coverage, you have a choice but remember one day will be your day, what is your legacy that you will leave behind to be remembered by - who will mourn or celebrate for you - keep that in mind when you want to whine about media coverage - it is a little overboard but at least he did something that will last into time - the MAN was a great artist/writer/entertainer LEAVE IT AT that, who cares about his personal life, do we care about yours, NO let him RIP and have this last time to shin just so that the fans can have their time. Funerals are for the people not for the dead, it provides time to say a final goodbye, so relax and tune out if you don't care to be bothered with all the hoopla and rah rah. OK happy 4th of July or will you be whinning today too. LOL

it fascinates me that throughout history, the storytellers are rewarded out of all proportion to their seeming contribution to society's betterment. there must be some primal niche in our collective tribe that people like michael jackson fill.

Man, how did so many of you come to the same place... "Waaa waaa, we don't want coverage, because we go against everything!" --> if you don't care then DONT WATCH IT.
And better yet, if you ARE crying about coverage .. WHY are you discussing the whole thing here!? Isn't that the exact opposite? Now stop whinning you hypocrites and if you don't care about it - just go do something ELSE! And let the people (and quite a huge number of us) who actually care enjoy our last moments of MJ

I don't think his funeral should be televised, nor should the media be allowed in with cameras, a funeral should be a place for his family & closest friends he knew him on a personal basis, not for reporters to be there interviewing people, & showing personal moments to the world. let his family & good friends say good-bye to him in piece & quiet without noisy,nosey reporters carrying tons of equipment for their own personal gain($$) he's been followed around all his famous life stopped,questioned,& bothered leave him go to his grave alone in silence!!

I agree enough is enough. Short of avoiding all news (whether paper, tv, or internet) you can not escape the incessant coverage.

Was MJ's death newsworthy? Sure - just as Farah Fawcett's, Ed McMahon's, Billy Mays', and Karl Maldon's deaths were newsworthy. come to think of it I the last two Presidents who died did not get this much coverage combined.

I am very much looking forward to Michael's memorial service. He was an incredible talent for four decades and millions of us grew up with him and watching him perform - I am so sorry to have lost him so young and I am so sorry for his brothers and sisters. I, for one, never believed the trashy rumors about him; I am quite certain he was really a very good person. Why do people always want to believe the worst of others? It's a real shame... and some of the comments are really disrespectful right now. He was a real person and he has a real family - if you don't want to watch, change the channels! Let the rest of us spend a couple of hours in his memory.

Thankfully my tv is out so I dont have to watch the sorriest spectacle since Diana died. Only stargazing idiots will watch this tripe
