Keith OlbermannKeith Olbermann! Come on down! You're the next TV celebrity whose death has been falsely reported on the Internet!

The MSNBC Countdown's Wikipedia page reported he had died earlier this morning, possibly due to complications from celiac disease.

I sent emails to two networks officials to confirm this jarring claim. Jeremy Gaines, MSNBC's vice president of communications, responded that he is certain the entry is a "hoax" and that he and other network officials were working to correct it. The section on Olbermann's death has since been removed from the page.

Keith Olbermann's death reported on Wikipedia

It's been just one of many death hoaxes in the wake of the wave of celebrity deaths that seems to have permeated our consciousness and national news coverage in the last week. Most notably, actor Jeff Goldblum reportedly passed away while filming a movie in New Zealand, only to announce on The Colbert Report that he did not die, and then recant his words in the very same segment. Quite frankly, I can't be sure that any of us are alive at this very moment.

Unfortunately, several other celebrity non-deaths have been severely under reported because of the non-stop coverage of Goldblum's untimely living in the national press. Famous faces like Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, and Ellen Degeneres have all not died in the past week.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to these people and their friends and families during their time of joy.
