If you were on Twitter last week the day Michael Jackson died, you also might have seen the rumors that Jeff Goldblum had fallen on a movie set in New Zealand and died (there was also a rumor that Harrison Ford had died but that wasn't true either). Last night Stephen Colbert broke the news to fans, only to have Goldblum show up himself to dispute the report.

As a New Zealander I'm kind of wondering, how the f**k did we get sucked into this? Is it because we are so far away that no one thinks anyone is actually going to check? This exact same rumour started in 1999 with Tom Hanks, and then again in 2007 with Tom Cruise.

Oh, and the live news report is from Australia, not New Zealand. We are actually very intelligent people who live in a country so small that we would probably know if Jeff Goldblum was here.
