Bobby Cannavale bounces back to Cold Case

You think Bobby Cannavale has felt the sting when all those episodes of the failed second go-round of Cupid have been burned off by ABC this past few weeks? It's got to be a shot to the ego, even for an established, successful Emmy-winning actor. Well, here's some news that should puff him back up again. Cold Case is bringing Bobby Cannavale back for the new season.

Cannavale appeared last season on Cold Case as Detective Eddie Saccardo, an undercover narcotics cop -- think Serpico with a sense of humor -- who had a brief romantic fling with Lily. It was one of the only happy things in Detective Rush's life last season, so the return of Eddie could be just what the doctor ordered for Kathryn Morris's character.

As it stands now, Eddie is set for a three-episode stay, but I'm wondering if that could be extended if the writers -- and viewers -- like what they see. After the finale last season, when Lily was injured and emotionally ravaged after a tough case as traumatized by a cautious reunion with estranged father, it might be nice to see Lily have a real romance that brings her some pleasure. As most fans of Cold Case know, Lily has a history of being involved with bad boys who ultimately break her heart.

So maybe Bobby C. could be the right man for Lily, like he was the right man for Will when he appeared on Will & Grace? Sounds good to me. What about you? Do you like the idea of Detective Eddie picking up with Lily where they left off?
