Shark Tank is going to inspire a lot of bad jokes about water, being eaten
Question: what do you get when you combine The Apprentice and American Inventor? Well, possibly a headache. Of course, you could also get a new hit reality show, and that's what ABC is hoping they'll get with Shark Tank. It features new business people and inventors pitching new products and ideas to a panel of judges/successful businessmen and women. Who gets the thumbs up? Who gets investment money? Who has to haggle and deal? Who cries? Who argues with the judges? The preview below makes me want to watch at least the first episode, though I wonder if ultimately this is a show better off on cable.

I like the British counterpart's name better, The Dragon's Den. Either way the show can be interesting. Many times the people on the board will bargain with the inventors for a stake in their company or some other crazy thing.

It already is. This sounds like an American copy of "Dragons' Den," a UK show that's been running on BBC-America.

Canada also has Dragon's Den. It's been well received. It's particularly entertaining when the judges fight. Since we already have it, I'm not sure I'm going to bother with the American version. http://www.cbc.ca/dragonsden/

Why couldn't they keep the name of the Brit show "Dragon's Den"? It works.
If the show is half as good, it'll be an "ok" watch.

As someone mentioned there's a Canadian version of this, which is actually from the british version. Anyway, I believe from that clip three of the judges from the Canadian show are on this ABC version. Odd?

Actually, the Canadian and UK versions are based on a Sony format. Was originally a Japanese business game show. Two of Canada's "dragons" are on the US Shark Tank version -- brought in because they do so well on the Canadian show.
