A few days ago, we mentioned that TLC was heavily promoting tonight's episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8, pushing the fact that the couple will make a "special announcement" about their crumbling relationship. My colleague Mike Pascua speculated on what was going to happen, but the good folks at Radar Online (who I wrote for occasionally in their pre-Enquirer-owned days) have already latched on to what the announcement is likely going to be.And, to be honest, it's about the least surprising news you could think of. More after the jump.
According to the Radar article, the Gosselins are going to file for divorce, with Jon being the person who is going to file the papers (Update 6/23: Apparently, Kate was the one who filed). It doesn't really matter, though; the marriage has been in trouble for quite awhile, as the article -- and the many, many before it since the whole Jon and Kate mess began -- pointed out.
I was really holding out hope that the special announcement was going to be that the two of them were going to end the show. I guess that was too much to ask for. Even in the throes of a divorce, it seems like Jon and Kate are still going to exploit their ki-- er, fulfill their contract -- until the bitter end.
Yes, it might be interesting to see how the two of them deal with the fact that their marriage is over and how it's going to affect the kids. But that's going to wear thin on audiences pretty quickly. No one wants to see eight little kids suffering through a broken marriage that's laid bare for the entire nation to see... do they?

If this show follows what will likely be a nasty and salacious divorce as well as a lousy relationship between the parents it will hit a new low in tabloid television. We do not see these two complete fools damage their kids and see their own foolishness played out on television.15 minutes of fame are over.A lifetime of paying the price for it begins.Hopefully Kate can't afford that idiotic hairstyle on child support/alimony.

I was completely agreeing with you until your mean spirited comment regarding Kate's hairstyle. You lost creditability there, because what her hair tells us about her is she has confidence and style. That shouldn't be a problem. To be honest, you sound a lttle jealous.

I'd think that nobody would want to "see eight little kids suffering through a broken marriage that's laid bare for the entire nation to see" but I'd also think that nobody would want to watch this show in the first place, so what do I know?
I'd also think that nobody would create websites about how the 8 year old daughter on this show is a b**** but apparently the have. These people aren't the best, but they surely inspire the worst in humanity.

What are you, kidding? This is America! OF COURSE we do!
At least the Nielsen beloved lowest-possible-common-denominator folks do.
Hell, if we could toss them all in an arena and throw in some starving lions and a juggling act, we'd probably all watch that, too. Those barbaric Romans had nothing on us. Seen any celebrities swallow bugs lately?

I agree. One should never underestimate the joy television viewers can have at watching other people's misery.
The cynical part of me doesn't want to believe this divorce is a ratings stunt.

Can't they just drive off a cliff or something? Then the kids can be doled out to eight pairs of sane people to raise.

If there is one service these people and the Octomom have performed it is to highlight the fact that no couple should ever have more than 3 or 4 kids tops.It seems mulriple births equals a train wreck every time.
Here's a concept.Distribute the 8 kids to 4 childlessw couples and force Jon and Kate to spend the next 20 years watching them being brought up to be decent undamaged human beings.Something unlikely with the current parents.

My family has 5 kids, and on my mom's side, we're the smallest family, and all of my mom's siblings are still married.
One family has 16 kids, another 13, another 12, another 10.
I have 51 cousins on that side of my family alone, and every one of the parents are still married and happily living with their large families.
The problem isn't the size of the family, it's the approach.
Now I don't watch, nor am I planning on watching the show, but I can tell you, if they're getting a divorce, it's not about how many kids they have. That's not the root of their problem.

My greatest hope is that they will announce that they are cancelling the show for the good of their family and children. But based on past experience I'd say the chances of that are slim to none. They are both publicity vampires and have been so blinded by the dollar signs they see every time the cameras roll. They will continue to force their children to believe that there is no such thing as privacy and that life is lived in front of cameras. Good luck with that!

Who cares what they do? Jon is not that cute, who could he possibly be having an affair with? Unless he's really packing.....are they stupid enough to let their cash cow go down the tubes? No, they are pulling this stunt so they can make up and have another year full of $25,000.00 paychecks!

I really can't understand why anyone watches this show.
It's like these women have fertility treatments and pop out litters of kids so they can have a tv show...sad.
He;s so whipped it is'nt funny...and she's such prig it's ridiculous. The only bright spot are the kids!
Maybe they've made enough money off of the kids so they can separate and do what they really want to do.
The both of them make me sick!!

i feel so badly for those adorable children who did not ask for this "reality tv. mess". Their parents should cancel the show and try to be "parents" instead of "celebrities". Jon, in my opinion, has done a better job of parenting than Kate, who is definitely more interested in "money" than her family, always traveling to make even more money!! It is sad and I have a friend who isnt able to have kids. I wish she could raise these beautiful kids.
Kate and jon, do what is best and get off of television!!

Jon is selfish.. He only thinks of himself. Yes, Kate is controling and bossy! But Jon is lazy and needs to grow up. Ok he now is standing up for himself. But instead of working it out and and the both of them compromising. He has an affair. Jon take your ugly woman and go! Hope she can afford the child support.

I just can't imagine they giving up their whole world. They needed much counseling, and many talks with their minister. They needed to think what they are doing to their children... they need their own real Mom and Dad who should work at this until it works. Kate is very bossy... she needed to work on that. Someone has to keep the family going and she definitely was the one who did that. Maybe Jon should have helped more without her beating him down. They need to get God into this and work it out, no is not an answer. Eight lovely healthy children to raise, they are so lucky God gave them this gift.. now they are messing it up. A big shame! Being so famous, so much money... it really makes you ill. The children will suffer so much, shame on Mom and Dad for not being true to their vows. The kids should sit down with them and tell them they aren't going to do this... they are going to grow up themselves and work it out. No ands, ifs or buts. They are not true to their vows made before God. Kate and Jon... listen up. Life will never be the same, stay in there and tear up those papers. Show the world you CAN do it. Pray, Pray Pray!

Good job Jane! It is about time someone is kind with their words. What has our world become? Everyone on here is ready to be hateful and mean. I am happy to read your kind words. I too, believe that prayer is powerful. Unfortunately, if Jon and Kate are not seeking the truth, then they will not even consider prayer or counseling. This is a sad situation, and being in front of a camera doesnt help it one bit. This is a time they need to be private and settle their family crisis. The kids are the only ones who get the worst out of a situation like this.

Ummm... someone mentioned that Kate would be receiving child support and alimony. Let me be the first to tell you how this goes down. The person who keeps the big house keeps the kids, thus keeping the TLC show and income. Just a wild guess... IT WILL BE KATE! The person with the big income will be paying the alimony. Another wild guess here... IT WILL BE KATE!! Kate isn't going to let any of that money slip through her fingers. She will keep the kids so that she can maintain her new lifestyle. Jon will collect alimony from his ex-wife who has the book deals and tv show. Although I don't feel a bit sorry for Kate. It's about time she repays Jon for all the crap she dolled out!!

It is sad that the couple are splitting. They both got caught with there pants down. And now the kids are going to have to suffer. They are not teaching the kids anything except greediness. I loved the show before all this happened. Kate and Jon u really need counseling..
