Here's a preview of The Philanthropist
When I first heard that there was a show coming up called The Philanthropist (which isn't an easy word to type out, by the way), I thought it was another reality show. Maybe something where a contestants compete to see who wins more money for charity or something. But it actually stars James Purefoy as a rich guy who goes around the world helping people. It also stars Jesse L. Martin and Neve Campbell. Here's a scene from the pilot. It starts June 24.

I saw a screen test on this show back in March in Vegas. Its a good show but the major problem I had with it is when Neve Campbell (who has a small part) is in a scene she is almost treated like the star of the show and the focus shifts from Purefoy. I hope they tweaked it more since I saw that pilot.

NBC's site describes him as a "playboy turned vigilante," which is an odd descripton. It doesn't look like he gives away money like The Millionaire did. He seems more like a rich MacGyver, going around the world helping people, making deals, etc.
