Contrary to what his album covers may suggest, Andrew WK is adorable. No, really. Adorable. I first learned this when I saw him on on MTV's Crashing With Andrew WK, a program in which the frontman hung out with some girls at a North Carolina Central University sorority (I found the first installment here, by the way). It's taken the rest of the world a little more time to catch on, but since Andrew WK kicked off his motivational speaking/performing career, people are starting to get it. The folks over at Cartoon Network saw something in his personality and evidently thought, "Hey! This guy should blow things up with kids!" And they're right. They're so right.
Andrew WK posted a video from this new game show, Destroy Build Destroy, on @AndrewWK (I still don't know if that leading preposition is necessary while discussing Twitter names) and it looks fantastic. Kids get to bust things up and get creative on a really big level (hard hats needed!). Plus, they get to hang out with Andrew WK for a day, which sounds pretty awesome by itself.
I may not be part of the main demographic anymore and I may not be exactly super-pleased about this non-cartoony direction for Cartoon Network, but I'll be tuning in, if only to live vicariously for a moment and feel awesome from the comfort of my couch, which I can't really afford to explode.

Thank you for this review. I was so thrilled to meet him when I did, and yes, like you say he is a beautiful person. I hope he catches on again with people as something more sustainable than what they made him out to be years ago..

Sweet! I went to a Warped Tour about 6 years ago and Andrew W.K. took the stage. I wasn't expecting much, but I stayed and watched. It was the greatest live show I had ever seen. EVERYBODY got into it. His attitude is just so infectious, it is impossible not to love the guy. It's great to see him on TV again. I'll be tuning in.

Yeah... uhm... it all looks really quirky fun but when they brought out the LAW I simply went "Ok this is fake to no end". Is it really necessary to be so over the top that it looks as if they are all high on sugar (I didn't say crystal meth)?
I mean those guys are so amped up when they ask the kids at home not to try this all I would reply is "boom... scrrrrrrrsh... booom!!! drrrrrrr... bamm!" and maybe "Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill!" ;-)
