If you thought Futurama had nowhere to go after the climatic series-long ending with Into the Wild Green Yonder (and notice I'm not revealing what that ending is so you spoiler-hating surprise junkies don't lose your half-daily hit of whahuh?!?), think again.

Futurama's executive producer David X. Cohen talked to Wired Magazine's Underwire blog about just what lies ahead for the new Comedy Central episodes.

The good news is Cohen seems to be brimming with more crazy ideas than a Hardee's product development retreat, but he doesn't reveal anything too specific in terms of what Fry, Leela and Bender will be doing in the episodes to come.

The best news of all is they will not pull a J.J. Abrams and completely recast the crew of the Planet Express. There's no old Fry coming back from the future, no using dark matter to rewrite the original story and no attempting to completely destroy the entire fictional universe they have worked so hard to create. That should save us all a lot of bloodshed.

And how can they? The voices behind all of the characters (Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, Phil Lamarr, Tress MacNeille and Lauren Tom) are so ingrained in our heads that any attempts to replicate or recast them would make our brains slam on the brakes. And if God intended such changes to occur, he would have equipped our craniums with airbags.

The show will continue to keep the average household geek giggling with jokes about technology run amok, including such tech store zombies as cell phones, specifically the iPhone. I'm sure I will laugh hard at them and still be willing to beat a stranger to death with a fish just to get a discount for one.
