Microsoft corrects error in Bing commercial
If you were a fan of the movie The Breakfast Club, you might have caught the error in Microsoft's Bing ad (below) when it debuted recently. The ads says the movie came out in 1986, but it actually came out in 1985 (a funny error for a commercial advertising a search engine!). But I saw the commercial again last night and Microsoft has changed it! Now when the woman says the line about the movie, the camera cuts away to the other woman and there's a new voiceover.

Microsoft didn't need to change the ad because the whole point is to illustrate how rival search engines return irrelevant and wrong information and that Bing is better. One woman says they need to find a new place for breakfast, but her friend replies with information about Breakfast at Tiffany's (irrelevant) made in 1986 (wrong). Subtle but clever jab at Google et al, I thought. ;-)

Except that when you actually search for "find breakfast" in the two engines, it becomes clear that Google still bings Bing's behind.

The first time I saw this commercial I thought it was for kgb (which is a service I do not understand).
