Bender's back, baby! New Futurama episodes are in our future

Have you grown tired of bad TV news? And by bad TV news, I mean bad news about television shows. Bad "TV news" is redundant.
Well, get ready for some good news. No wait, get ready for some great news. No, great doesn't really describe it. Here is some grantasticularly wondergasmiclicious news! (And my 12th grade English teacher said I'd never amount to anything as a writer.)
Comedy Central has ordered all brand new episodes of Futurama, and the show has officially gone back into production.
An insider told Collider.com that the network has given the series an order for 13 additional episodes to air now that the network has run through all of the series' original episodes and the four full-length DVD movies. This news has sparked rumors that production has officially started again on the series and casting is underway.
It's not just good news for Futurama fans, even though the fans are slipping into grinning comas and twitching with joy over the news. And who can blame them? It's one of the few comedy series that just seems to get better and better the longer its run gets. It's the bizarro According to Jim.
It's also good news to every show that has been cancelled before its time. Matt Groening, David X. Cohen and company have proved that no show can truly die just because a single-minded network doesn't have the patience to let it develop and expand. Their dedication to the show and its fans is truly astounding, and if new episodes do make it to Comedy Central's doorstep, disappointed fanboys across the universe will have one less thing in life to be disappointed about.

Oh great news I was looking this up only a couple of days ago.
Couldn't be happier I hope this comes to our TV sets within the next few months.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS THE BEST NEWS ON THIS WEBSITE IN MONTHS!!!!!
Futurama rules and I'm so excited I'll get even more Futurama. If you've ever seen the comics, you'd realize how many dozens of episodes they could produce...the posibilities are limitless.

Hope it won't be another two-year wait!

Well, sorry to dash that hope, but a standard animated series usually takes about a year per episode to produce. So, you're probably looking toward the second half of 2010 at the earliest, unless this is actually old news and they're on down the road a bit already.

You seem to be forgetting that I don't care when I get it, just so long as I get it.
HAZOOZOO!

a year?! If Southpark can pump out episodes in a week, Futurama could too

So you're saying this 13 episode season will take 13 years to produce? I have a hard time believing that.

Yeah... well.. uhm...
I hated all the DVD releases. All of them. They weren't close to anything that's done while the show was still in production.
I really REALLY hope they'll manage to get back to the quirky, 20 minute episode format. Those 80 Minute 4-episode movies just didn't feel right. I didn't even RENT the last one because the first three were so unfunny...

Absolutely. The DVD's were spectacularly unfunny. I don't know if it was the writers or the forced "movie" format but they certainly tamped my enthusiasm for more Futurama into the ground.

GREAT NEWS!!! Props to Cartoon Central's: Adult Swim for keeping the show alive!

I can't believe so many didn't like the DVD movies...I thought "The Beast with a Million Backs" and "Benders Game" were super funny. I laughed my ass off watching Benders Game in a way I haven't for a movie in a long long time. Easily better than the Simpsons movie and funnier than many of the episodes...but maybe I just "got it" because I played Dungeons and Dragons and had just watched Invasion of the Body Snatchers before Beast with a Million Backs. To each his own I guess.

I thought it was just me. I loved the show, but found the dvds unfunny.
