Today In Boob Tube History: the last episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show
The last episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show aired on June 1, 1966. It was an actual ending to the show too (with clips!), as Alan Brady decided to create and star in a TV show of the autobiography that Rob Petrie was writing since the start of the show. Alas, that episode isn't available online, so here's one of the best episodes of the show, and one of the best sitcom episodes of all-time, period (in my opinion).

Obviously you are insane. "It May Look Like a Walnut" is clearly the greatest television episode ever made, if only because of the scene with MTM sliding out the closet on a hill of walnuts.

While I obviously have to agree with edgore about the best episode (and I still have my sense of humor AND my thumbs), I sincerely appreciate the fact that you devoted your column to acknowledging one of the best (if not THE best sitcom) of all time.
Thumbs up!

Walnut episode over rated for this best comedy series ever. The episode where they were stuck in the haunted cabin is terrific

I loved the walnut episode. (Danny Thomas was terrific)
But the Haunted Cabin episode was great as well.
I'll have to flip a coin.

it would be nice if you didn't use Hulu since most of the world cannot see video hosted there...

The Dick Van Dyke Show was and always will be THE best television show ever. All of the characters were so well drawn & the actors & they chemistry was wonderful to see. My favorit eppy was when Richie was born. That is without a doubt the funniest one....it's even better than when Little Ricky was born on I Love Lucy.
