Yes, summer's guilty pleasure voyeur television is just around the corner! CBS has announced that Big Brother 11 will premiere on Thursday, July 9 at 8 PM ET/PT. In addition to the Thursday night show, BB11 will also air at 8 PM ET/PT on Sundays and 9 PM ET/PT on Tuesdays. Phew ... no Wednesday show this season. That never worked out last season -- rush, rush, rush, then bored hamsters for four days. The casting for the show is in its final stages according to Kasting Inc.'s recent twitter. The finalists have been notified and the process should be finished within a few weeks. Of course, once news on the new hamsters is known, we'll let you know right here on TV Squad.
A pregnant ChenBot (Julie Chen for the masses), will once again be hosting the show despite rumors from the NY Post that she would be taking a maternity leave. Julie announced on The Early Show that she will indeed be around for the season. This should add an interesting element in commenting on her fashions. I'm not sure my mind can wrap around what we might see her wearing as the season goes on. She's due in October.
As always, TV Squad will be your home for daily live feed reports from inside the house of

CBS should take its cues from BB UK by letting the public vote on evictions and using more 'real' people. Enough of these wannabe model/actors every season. After the first couple of days you inevitably find out how they all moved to LA, have an agent, blah blah. Casting Big Brother is not rocket science. They could fill the house with Amish people and they'd be at each others throats after the first couple of weeks. Enough of the plastic posers, they're so lame.

BB1 did feature America voting out the housemates... and it sucked... and would've never returned in that fashion.
Why does that method of BB suck? Because Americans vote to preserve the people they like instead of the drama. By the end of season 1 it was like watching paint dry... we had eliminated all of the annoying characters with like 7 votes to go... how very thrilling.
Not only had we eliminated those we didn't like, we had eliminated everyone those left in the house didn't like... The last half dozen people in that house liked each other. What's the point of watching that?
No, Big Brother works this way for us Americans because we actually would reward the good people and punish our entertainment value in the process. No, they need to turn on each other and betray and vote each other out... that's the only way to ensure real conflict and something entertaining from emerging. Otherwise we just get some amputee getting half a million sympathy dollars.

There will always be drama. Even in Season 1 there was plenty. And by the way, they vote out the ones they dislike in the UK also. Then make them walk through a gauntlet of boos from a live crowd on their way to the post-eviction interview. CBS should do that too.

My only wish is this season isn't another sex fest like two seasons ago. That got old REAL quick.

Huh? If my memory serves, and it usually does, there's only ever been one couple to have sex in the US BB house, and it wasn't from 2 seasons ago.
There may have been one other couple, but I only recall the firefighter and that one chick having sex.
Unless, of course, you mean the actual couple that was in the house together... but I don't really count that, as they lived together outside the house.

Your memory doesn't serve. One couple was hooking up on the live feeds every night a couple of seasons back. I think it was during the writer's strike.

Ollie and April apparently had sex multiple times last season but it was only seen on the feeds and never mentioned or alluded to on the actual show.

Well, hmmm, didn't know that, then again, we're talking about the show, not the live feeds or Showtime after dark... I rather expect things like that on there, it's partly why I don't pay extra for the smut... not sure exactly what you folks thought you were going to get there... nice, wholesome, carebear style entertainment?

The feeds and the show go hand in hand for a lot of fans. They know exactly what to expect watching the feeds, and lots of people post clips of the feeds on you tube as well. You said, "If my memory serves, and it usually does, there's only ever been one couple to have sex in the US BB house." So, clearly you were referring to the house, not the show, in general. Since you don't watch the feeds your knowledge of Big Brother is going to be extremely limited in terms of specific events that occured in the BB house. Choose your words more carefully in the future, you'll be a lot better off.
