So I'm sitting there all cozy yesterday watching the season (I won't say series!) finale of Reaper. It's at a pivotal moment in the action. Sam is batting the devil for his soul. All he has to do is sink these quarters into this shot glass. My eyes are glued to his hands and then ... then ... well look at the picture! You can't see shit! Behind that cloud of whatever the hell that's supposed to be is Sam's hand holding the quarter. You can almost see the shot glass coming out of the blob.Come on, I know we've had to learn to get used to on-screen promos for shows but where does it say you have to cover up fully a quarter of the screen with white glowing crap? Did you think I might not notice the words "Hitched or Ditched" down there? I'm sorry, but this is completely inexcusable. Why not just have a voice over interrupt screaming: "HEY! YOU NEED TO WATCH HITCHED OR DITCHED! IT'S ON NEXT. IF YOU DON'T THIS WHITE BLOB IS GONNA COVER THE WHOLE SCREEN! MWAHAHAHAHA!"

I concur. I briefly considered attempting to form a boycot against the CW for the offence. But then I realized there really wouldn't be much of a difference then their normal ratings.

No kidding, Ryan, and ditto, Jason. It's getting ridiculous. Hopefully if Reaper gets a better deal in syndication or on cable for Season 3, our nice little show will get better treatment. We know there is a fantastic audience out here that will support the show. If you're one of them, check out reaperdmv.com to help save the show!

I always made it a point to boycott shows that were promoted in this way. And when telling a friend about it she pointed out that shows I do watch are also promoted on the shows I was boycotting. They get 'ya coming and going!

I hate those things.... it's like they keep getting bigger and bigger every year. SNL had a great sketch about those ad banners recently.

This BS is out of control and so annoying I want to throw my TV out the window at times....and it's obviously not the CW.
I was watching one of the MTV channels a few weeks before the MTV video awards, and a favorite video of mine came up which I hadn't seen in a long time....
Well, I really didn't get to see much of it, because every TEN SECONDS, there was s*&t popping up, to the point where literally half of the screen area was covered with ads for the Music Awards, etc., etc....It was so infuriating I actually took a photo of it and bitched to everyone I saw for about 4 days (which I'm sure was fun for them). I was livid. Unfortunately, I lost my phone, or else I would post a link to the dogs*&t move that they were pulling.....

And this is just another reason why I watch almost everything when it comes out on DVD or BluRay now. There's still good shows, but TV, as a medium, is dead!

Seriously -- this has been going on for at least the last 5 years, and on-screen promos even longer than that. And it hasn't bothered you until now? I can only assume this is why they keep doing it -- people are slow on the uptake.
Me? I got rid of cable last year partially because it was too difficult to freakin' watch anything through all the screen clutter. Now I watch shows on DVD from Netflix -- no promo clutter, no commercials, no fuzzy picture.
The next step is direct-to-dvd series production. I'll be first in line to buy a DVD set from Bryan Fuller if it means he can bypass the suits at a network and get it right into my eyeballs.

Sadly, compared to some I've seen, that one's subdued and takes up hardly any space.
I hate all of 'em, but what bugs me the most is when they're dropped over subtitles.

this has really ticced me off for a very long time. (yeah I noticed em way back when and they were just as annoying but definitely smaller.) All the networks do it. Sci-Fi has a habit of creating little vignettes and pasting them into the shows, like an evil child with colorforms!(remember those?)
It's really annoying watching a show and having another show stuck on top, usually right where the action is. and lately they've even begun adding sound to these things, which cuts right over the show you're watching. I feel bad for those people with 56" screens who get a really big view of these annoying ads.
