No, that's not Neil Young or an angry Jesus at the top of this post. It's James Callis as Merlin. Yes, the Merlin from Camelot.
Battlestar Galactica's Gaius Baltar returns to the Sci Fi Channel this week in Book of Beasts, one of the network's famously craptastic TV movies. Battlestar fans might want to program their DVRs for this one. Callis plays the gravelly-voiced heroic lead, the movie is indeed set in Camelot, and the director has been quoted comparing it to Braveheart! All that plus a heavy amount of booze should make for a great Saturday night for any BSG nerd/Callis fan.
Callis isn't the only beloved sci-fi actor the network has nabbed for one of these silly telemovies. Heroes' James Kyson Lee is co-starring with Star Trek Enterprise's Connor Trineer in something called Star Runners on June 13. And June 27 is the premiere of the awesomely bad Mutant Chronicles on Sci Fi with Thomas Jane, Ron Perlman and John Malkovich.
The summer fun starts with Book of Beasts, featuring Callis, a giant magical staff and tons of bad accents, Saturday at 9 p.m. You must watch the trailer.

Well, I have to say this doesn't look as bad as SciFi's usual crap-tacular Saturday programming. I just may have to check this one out.

Point taken, but hey the man's gotta eat, right? Not to mention pay his mortgage. And his light bill. And his gas bill and so on. This "crap-tacular" TV movie may not exactly be "Schindler's List" but hey, it's a gig. And we all need a job nowadays, know what I mean?

Just finished watching the program-ugh! If anyone missed it, don't bother watching when aired again or if somone taped it, read a book or watch something more meaningful. James Callis's ( as Merlin) gravely voice was annoying not to mention the poor acting in general. role and the other
