On last night's two-hour season finale of Ugly Betty, Henry came back to New York to warn everyone that there's a killer going around killing all of the wedding guests one by one. Well, no, but Christopher Gorham came back to possibly screw things up between Betty and Matt.
Was this a good season finale? Is the show as good as it used to be? Does it deserve to get another season (though it's moving to Friday nights next season, always a sign that it's on its way out)?

This series is nothing like it was during its first yer. It just got too boring and lost a lot of what made it fun in season 1.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I thought this season was one of the best so far. The writing was deft and at times surprisingly meaty, and the cast showed they have some serious acting chops by rising to the occasions. Plus it's gorgeously photographed (those NY locations are well used) and still has some of the cleverest scene transitions around. Even though I've never been that big a fan, it will be nice to have the show back next season.

The weird thing about Ugly Betty is that if you haven't seen it for a while, whether it's on hiatus or you've drifted away, you don't remember it being as good as it actually is. Almost every character has a broad, borderline caricature side, but there's very real, very strong character detail lurking just beneath the surface. Storylines rarely play out in obvious, tidy, family-friendly ways. Characters are never simply "heroes" and "villains" and the most improbable pairings (i.e. Marc and Justin scenes) routinely yield gold.
That was a heart-wrenching finale, and I'm eager to see what happens next. It's a pity that ABC seems so determined to snub the show.

I wonder how long the original Ugly Betty lasted, and if Salma Hayek's even still associating with this iteration? Vanessa Williams' ability to stay in-character makes this show for me, but, frankly, I'd rather have seen her Wilhelmina Slater show up as Chirstina Applegate and friends' new boss on a revamped Samantha Who

I stopped watching after it became a screamfest about moving Betty back home. I am so done. It's not fun any more.
