Former Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd is talking about strapping on the ol' proton pack one more time for a third Ghostbusters movie. Aykroyd is saying his co-stars from the first two films -- Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver – are also on board, and that production could start as soon as this winter.Aykroyd wants the new movie to introduce a team of five younger Ghostbusters, including several female members. He's hoping to land Dollhouse star Eliza Dushku and Alyssa Milano to be a part of the "next generation" of Ghostbusters.
Aykroyd's just thinking out loud at this point, but I'm almost certain we'll see Milano show up in the third film. She voiced the female lead in the upcoming Ghostbusters video game, which features the voices of all three original Ghostbusters, and reportedly got along very well with everyone.
Dushku addressed Aykroyd's words on her Twitter feed, saying this is the first she's heard about her possible involvement with Ghostbusters, but she'd definitely "suit up" for the role. Milano hasn't heard anything official yet either, according to her Twitter feed.
I'm not the biggest Eliza Dushku fan, but I could see this working. It's not like she doesn't have tons of onscreen experience kicking paranormal ass while cracking wise. She would probably have to play the dangerous or impulsive Ghostbuster, maybe opposite a more levelheaded scientist played by Milano. Whatever the case, it looks like Aykroyd wants to inject some, er, hotness into the franchise which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just as long as Murray's Peter Venkman gets to hit on the new girls throughout the entire film.

YES! I want Eliza Dushku as a new Ghostbuster. Make Alyssa Milano analogous to Sigourney Weaver's part (damsel in distress to Bill Murray's goofy hero), Throw in some nerdy but cool guys, perhaps Jonah Hill as Louis Tully and Janine Melnitz's son (Louis Harold "Fido" Melnitz-Tully), and we've got a movie!
To Dan Akroyd (who I know doesn't read this blog): I give you all rights to that one.

I'm sorta of the camp that says we don't need another "Ghostbusters", the time has come and gone, but who wants to bet that these female characters will be the daughter of two of the characters? One will definately be Peter's and probobly Sigorney Weaver's daughter. Both are east coast girls right? So I suppose it makes sense if they grew up in New York City.
