(S02E25) "Gossip Girl's going down!" - SerenaIt's no surprise that the Gossip Girl season finale was filled with shocking moments, lies and backstabbing, since that's what the series is all about. What was particularly interesting was Serena's quest to expose Gossip Girl since, let's admit it, we are curious to know who s/he really is. We got hints and tidbits of whom it could be, but no real lead.
One thing is for sure, GG will continue to blog about the gang even if they are going to college and even if some of them will not be going to the same college.
Things we've learned about Gossip Girl:
- It's likely that the person was in high school with the gang, as GG started to blog when the lead characters started Grade 9.
- It's more than likely that GG is the same age as the cast since she blogged that she would be following the gang through their college years.
The bombs that GG dropped during the episode didn't really surprise me. It's stuff that we, the viewers, already knew. It was interesting, though, to see how the characters react to those bombshells. I was glad the characters decided to sort of kiss and make up in the end, since all of them have flaws and I didn't want them to be at odds at the start of the season, especially since they will be in a new setting, which will provide enough drama to start with.
What I didn't see coming was the ending with Georgina. I was expecting to see Georgina at some point this week since they had to somewhat wrap up her "I'm going to take care of Poppy" storyline. What I didn't forsee is Georgina deciding to attend NYU and asking to be roomates with her BFF Blair. Oh the sparks it will create next season when Blair finds out who her roommate is! I wonder if it means that Michelle Trachtenberg will now be a series regular. The series did try to make her one last season, but the deal fell through. Could both parties have come to an agreement, meaning that we will see evil Georgina shack up with ex-Queen Bee Blair all of next season!?
I'm satisfied with Lily and Rufus getting engaged and the Humphreys moving in with the Van Der Woodsens. It will help keep the characters closer together, especially since the main teens will be split up. If I understood correctly:
-
Blair, Dan, Vanessa and Georgina are going to NYU.
-
Serena is going to Brown.
-
Nate is going to Columbia.
-
Chuck will not go to college and take care of Bass Industries.
In case you didn't connect the dots, the Scott character Dan, Nate and Vanessa met in the coffee shop is Lily and Rufus' thought-dead lovechild. We did see that he had a newspaper clip about them, but it went by really fast. It'll be interesting to see where this will go next season, especially since his adoptive parents didn't want him to know his real parents. Lily will also have more drama coming her way if Serena does indeed find her father in Fiji and brings him back home. If that happens, will it mean the end of Rufus and Lily?
Overall, I thought Season 2 of Gossip Girl was really interesting and action packed. Most characters grew up a lot, and the series found its drive. I can't wait to see next season, especially since they'll embark on a new adventure: college.

that was really neat finale in the way that having a graduation as a finale can be. what better way to transition seasons?
really cute moments were Serena wearing her tassle in her hair instead of getting hat-hair from the cap; the moment Blair and her mother had in the closet before she went to the party; Nelly almost professing her love for Dan in the most cliche, high school way.
i kinda think Nelly is GG. she let a couple of suspicious comments fly.

It was quite a satisfying finale especially with "all" of their secrets out there in the open. They all dealt with it and essentially moved on.
Heck, if you took out Scott, Georgina, and Fiji, it would've worked as a series finale. But no, we need the drama for next season!
I liked that Blair and Jenny essentially saw eye-to-eye. Ecstatic that Rufus and Lily are engaged. Fantastic that the couples I wanted to be together ended up together i.e. Vanessa/Nate and Chuck/Blair. And it was also nice to see Dan's "insiderness" acknowledged.
I do wonder how they'll get Serena in NYC next season. Maybe she'll take a year off to deal with the Fiji and/or Scott fallout. I'll also be interested to see how they structure the show. Yes, college will be the focus but will we still see Little J and Eric's lives in high school?
So lots of questions to ponder until next season, but for now I reitirate, a very satisfying finale. Bring on college.

This was a good season finale. Things from this season were resolved and besides college a whole lot of issues will begin next season with Chuck/Blair's relationship, Rufus'/Lilly's kid is now on the scene, Blair/Georgina being roommates, Serena's father coming back to NYC and I'm sure many more exciting things to come.

I know who Gossip girl is. Its Kristen Bell out of Veronica mars and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I have never seen her in the show, but I know it is her because she has been in interviews with the Gossip Girl cast saying it has been such a pleasure working with them and she can't wait till season 3

My favorite part was when they were looking thru the subject lines of the hacked Gossip Girl messages...
One of them was from a girl (I forget the name), and the subject line was:
"Nate has a small...."
I thought that was pretty funny...but it was a SUPER quick thing that I just happened to notice randomly....

I have a feeling they're gonna throw a curve ball and do the whole "We're ALL Gossip Girl" internet anonymity collective bullcrap.

I think that they'll just never tell us who it is. They'll leave it a mystery, which I honestly prefer.

Personally, I don't think they'll ever reveal the identity of GG. Her identity is not an essential part of the show, so they'll probably just tease it every now and then as a way to move a story line here and there...keep it intriguing, but never use it as an absolute "hook" to keep an audience.
