Comedy talk shows are a vastly underrated wasteland of quality programming, but they're shorter on female eye-candy than the floor of the Consumer Electronics Show. ABC is hoping to change that by giving comic babe and former Talk Soup slinger Aisha Tyler her own piece of programming.
The network is letting her develop a pilot for a "hybrid" style talk show that incorporates sketch, stand-up and other variety comedy into a fully "wired" show that will communicate with their audience over the Internet's series of complex tubes.
A syndicated deal means the show could land just about anywhere on broadcast or cable television. But I believe it would have a good chance of giving the competition a run from this honey, even if it ends up competing with any of the big three's late night circuses (circusi?).
Ms. Tyler is funny, witty, full of energy on stage, has plenty of experience in front of a camera as a host and an accomplished actress, and she sure is purdy to look at. Combine that with her tomboy love of all things geek and you've got a good chance of scoring the widest possible audience for a talk show from girls who love hearing disses on celebrity gossip to lonely geeks with carpal tunnel only in their thumbs.
She's also been down this road before, even if it was only for a week. Tyler was one of the final contenders for Craig Kilborn's vacated Late Late Show slow. No disrespect to the winner Craig Ferguson, but she would have made a damn fine host if the producers had picked her, and I'm not just talking about her looks. I do have other emotional needs, you know. Sickos.

God, not another talk show. PLEASE.
Listen, I love Aisha Tyler to DEATH, but she belongs in movies. She steals the show in every one she's in, yet no one will give her the lead role.
Nothing makes me sadder than to hear that she could get a sketch/talk show. That's not where she belongs.

Nice title. Let's see, you disparage a reader you assume misinterpreted (I doubt there is such person) the awkward title you wrote.
