We've heard that Mad TV will be leaving the FOX schedule in a couple of weeks, canceled after 14 years on the network (Talk Show with Spike Feresten has also been axed). Now it looks like the people at the late night comedy show have no intention of hanging things up.Producer David Salzman is looking for another network to pick up the show. He says that this finale coming up is the "FOX finale," but he's talking to other networks about doing another season of the show (at least).
So, what network would be a good place for Mad TV to continue? I think there are three or four networks that come immediately to mind (no, I don't see it on Lifetime or WE). After the jump, let us know what channel would be a good fit for this show.

Here's something interesting to try. Since Saturday Night Live always has a smaller number of episodes than other net work show, they could run it on NBC on alternating weeks with SNL so that there won't be soooooo many repeats on Saturday Night.

This is the best news in a while because it doesn't need to go away. I watch both SNL and MadTv every week and to be honest...MadTv usually gives me more laughs. Not to say that SNL is bad, but Mad is really funny at times and I don't want to see it go. I also don't care about time conflicts cause I have a dual tuner DVR and torrent sites.

I have watched MadTV off and on for years. I don't ever remember laughing. The actors are probably funny enough, but the writing is terrible.

I'm sorry to say it but I'm not sad to see it go. MAD TV stopped being funny years ago. Now it's just a bad parody of its formerly brilliant self.

I have no idea how this show stayed on for so long... and then again, there was a time in the 70's-80's when I would miss SNL - now I can't watch anything past the opener, before "LIVE"......................... it's SN!!!

MadTV has had its funny moments, but has always been very low brow with terrible writing. SNL has more intelligence to it, yet is often unfunny. Also, it was really annoying how if a new character turned out to be funny they would use it every subsequent episode, ad nauseum. I'm talking about Stewart, UPS guy, Vancome lady, Chinese Lady etc.
I won't be sad to see it go. I wonder what sketch comedy show will fill the stereotyping, racist, homophobic and xenophobic withOUT-an-underlying-irony-or-sense-of-intelligence hole left behind by MadTV.

I think, much like Friday Night Lights, this show would be a good pickup for a television content provider (Directv). They are actively looking for content to control and provide on their own, but like it to be developed from outside sources. On Friday Night Lights, DTV picks up some of the production costs, and gets an exclusive right to air the content. This would work well for Mad TV, as Directv or Dish could air this opposite SNL or on another night as an anchor program for a primetime night of the week. FNL did well in the dual DTV/ NBC format, and is being renewed. Perhaps DTV could share the show the CW or one of the cable channels in a similar deal.
