Lie To Me: Blinded - open thread
Have you been watching Lie To Me? When it was announced, a lot of people immediately thought of The Mentalist, but this seems to be a different show. Last night's episode had ER's Mekhi Phifer as an FBI agent helping on a case. Discuss the episode here. Is there anyone out there who watches both The Mentalist and Lie To Me? Which is better? Here's the episode (or at the link above).

Well I watch both and I think both are very good..but If I had to choose, I'd pick Lie to Me over The Mentalist. Lie to Me is just more interesting and intriguing and not as predictable as The Mentalist
And you could also compare the show to Criminal Minds...

I love both but think they are different. Criminal Minds is also a top pick! Like it better than CSI the last couple of seasons...except for the "Star Trek" episode, which was a scream!

I'm the opposite--I absolutely LOVE The Mentalist but am getting to know to love Lie To Me. And I find both very different types of shows and character portrayals. I've never watched Psych and have gotten real tired of the 'Psych is the show and Mentalist s.cks' talk, but that's just me, to each his own. Ratings will tell and enuff said on that.
I think Simon Baker seems to have so much fun in his role in the way that he plays it, it just seems to flow and also show the quality of the character and his overall portrayal. That being said, Tim Roth is and has also been a wonderful actor and brings his own to the role of Cal on Lie To Me. If I had to pick, for me it would be The Mentalist, but, I'm not going to pick and am going to continue to enjoy each show for what they both are and what I get out of them individually!

I watch both shows and I see it this way:
Lie to Me a one man show with a few extra characters thrown in.
On the Mentalist, it is an ensemble show with many interesting characters who work as a group. Main character is slightly more involved than others.
I like both shows but prefer The Mentalist.

I watch The Mentalist, Lie to Me, and Psych. In terms of quality, I'd
definitely say The Mentalist reins supreme, not just in the acting
department but writing is much tighter as well.
Lie to Me is just kind of hard to pull off because of the concept of the show. Actors have to sort of overact to convey these cues that they're being deceptive/lying or whatever and it just sort of irks me. I also find the stories on Lie to Me to be tad bit predictable, which is a failure on a show that's more about the ending than the ride, unlike The Mentalist or Dexter.
As for Psych, this show is sort of like The Mentalist meets Arrested
Development, with all the callbacks and running jokes, not to mention
the great chemistry of the cast.
Overall I'd say The Mentalist, Psych, and Lie to Me are all very
enjoyable shows in that order.

I am a fan of both The Mentalist and Lie to Me. They both have different qualities that attract me to them. The Mentalist has Simon Baker...hubba hubba... and the unspoken love between Rigsby and Van Pelt and rarely do I guess what actually happened or what Jane has picked up on and while I love, love this show, I can't help but love Lie to Me a little bit more- maybe its the intrigue of human body language...there is so much more going on with the people on here then simple lying...you have coverups, manipulation, and suspense...what you think you know you probably don't - hell even some of the people involved don't know whats going on, I love the mentor-mentee dynamic between Lightman and Torres, the acting overall, the interesting storylines and varying application of the group's talents and I am so happy to see Mekhi join the cast... this last episode kicked but and I hope to see so much more.
PS: I too am a fan of Psych and find something different on all of these similarly premised shows!

I watch both shows and like both, I feel they both are different in many ways but at the same time alittle the same. One is a full fledge cop based show and the other is just people who are good at reading others (Wish I was good at that, lol) who help the cops, FBI and anyone who can aford the services.. But now that Lie to Me is going to be having a FBI agent in thier group I feel it is going to be more like Eleventh hour in some ways. All the shows are different in what or who they are after as well as how they get to the bottom line. The mentalist deals mainly with the dead or missing, where Lie to Me is all different things from deaths to cheating or lieing spouses. As long as lie to me doesn't become just FBI cases then it will remain different from the other shows. And since there are plenty of cop, fbi type shows out there I hope they don't go full fbi.
