Leonard Nimoy talks about the new Star Trek movie (and Ann Curry's Spock crush)
Like a lot of Star Trek and classic TV fans, I'll be in line for the new movie when it opens tomorrow (actually, tonight in many cities - check your local listings, as they say). Leonard Nimoy is in it (no, that's not a spoiler), and this morning he sat down to talk with Al Roker on Today (video also here). Roker says that Nimoy put the ears on for the first time in 18 years. Wait, 18 years? That can't be right. I feel old.

I have been a Trek fan since the first episode. I will NOT be seeing the film, and I know a lot of other fans who won't. Just seeing the trailers gets me steamed. Anyone who knows the history of Kirk and company know the film is full of crap. I had no problem with a movie; but to make it so full of bull is just wrong. Then to say this is not your father's ST, and this is the first ST for everyone? Oh, please. ST has ALWAYS been for everyone. Keep your film, JJ.

I'm with you MJ As a fan from the time I could walk I just hate the way this was done. My Mom is a bigger Treker than I am, she is going to see it- but she's disgusted by what she's seen so far. To me this is as bad as what was done to The Spirit!

Oh, come on, guys. There's no greater fan of the original series than I am. God knows Rick Berman did his best to kill the genre/franchise, and he nearly succeeded. JJ Adams knows characterization, understands relationships a million times better than the tech-crazy Berman. To say you even refuse to see the film is just plain crazy - pretty close-minded - Spock would raise an eyebrow, I think. For goodness sake, *anything* will be better than what the fans have been fed over the last few years!

Wow I thought that that guest role on TNG wasn't THAT long ago. And I can't quite understand that I was THAT young when I first saw it. Time flies.
Oh and yes Bob, you are old.
